Circling in El Romeral

Posted on December 16, 2012 By Gwas No Comments on Circling in El Romeral
Ancient Sites, Energy work

In the second part of the day spent visiting the megalithic sites of Antequera in Spain we travelled the mile or so down the main road out of town heading towards the dominant feature in the landscape – the mountain of La Pena. We drove into what can only be described as an industrial estate, down a road whose tarmac suddenly ran out, and then down a dirt track, all the while following vague brown signs pointing towards ‘El Romeral‘. As we turned yet again into an area that seemed all ‘wrong’ for an ancient site, we could begin to see some grass and trees at the end of the track. Was this it?

Spain - November 2012 (156)

As we pulled into the car park with its dedicated ticket booth (oops – should we have paid at the previous site?) El Romeral loomed with it circular crown of cypress trees. It looked like a crown jewel among the slovenly industrial units and their dumping grounds that surrounded the site. We noticed that yet again there was a bus full of school children visiting the place, so we sat and had lunch while we waited for them to finish their noisy procession in and out of the central chamber.

At the time of visiting I didn’t have my bearings of the place and its surroundings. Only later did I do some research and find that there is a cardinal alignment between El Romeral’s chamber and the El Torcal sleeping dragon that faces it due South of the site. It’s like the dragon is watching the chamber from far above. The only noticeable alignment on the ground is with the La Pena mountain – the lady in the landscape. A gap in the line of trees shows the mountain’s profile perfectly.

20th August, 2010 – Trevethy Quoit, St Cleer, Cornwall It is not very often that Kal and I go on a wild goose chase. We are usually quite well prepared, and we have technology to back us up. More often than not we have hard copies of bits of Ordnance Survey maps accompanied by copious … Read More “Cornwall – An evening at Trethevy Quoit” »

Kilternan, County Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Ireland – Sunday 30th May 2010 This is the last, final and ultimate post on this year’s Ireland trip. We only went for a weekend but it has generated so many posts because so much happened in the three days we were there! This is the last one, and probably the … Read More “Kilternan: The Final Straw” »

Friday 28th May 2010 – Baltinglass, County Wicklow I got a bit carried away telling you about the good stuff and I forgot to tell you about the bad stuff, “Lesson #1”, or as we refer to it “The Leprechaun Incident“. Let me take you back in time to Friday 28th May. You may remember … Read More “Baltinglass: Treading on the toes of the Little People” »

Saturday 29th May 2010 – Four Knocks, County Meath On the morning of Saturday 29th May I roped Kal into one of my crazy ideas. We would spend the next two days on a modern pilgrimage, just like we had done at Glastonbury the year before. We would find a starting point and then let … Read More “Four Knocks: Sun, Moon and Uranus” »

Friday 28th May 2010 – Newgrange, County Meath On our second day on the Ireland megalithic tour we were going around the main Boyne Valley sights. It would be rude not to, seeing as we were in the vicinity. It would be interesting to contrast how the Irish valued their sites compared to the English, … Read More “Newgrange – Part 1: Inside the magick chamber” »

Sunday 10th May – Créhen, Brittany What I thought was the last of my dowsing trips on this holiday was to a small structure situated in the middle of some agricultural land just outside the village of Créhen near the northern coast of Brittany. Luckily the site is signed by one of the small blue … Read More “Brittany 8: Créhen’s ‘allé couverte’” »
