I have an appreciation fo the Tor at Glastonbury that goes beyond its magical presence and energies. It was maybe four years ago that Gwas and I first visited Glastonbury together. I recall the experience distinctly. It was approaching sunset as we parked in a country lane with the shadow of the Tor falling on us. I remember that I looked up at it with a little trepidation, my vertigo was making an appearance. If you have ever visited the Tor you might be surprised at how strong my fear and aversion was. That’s the thing about irrational fears…they are irrationally unrepresentative of reality. That climb was amazing in a few regards. The most important, I think, was that I was quite literally pulled up by the dowsing rods. My methodology was simple. If I was to climb this mountain then I had to do it following an energetic path. Maybe I would get lucky and the rods would take me in another direction. Alas that was not the case and they led me slowly but surely up the mound, until I reached the pinnacle. It was awe inspiring.
Since that time and this, I have been to the top of the Tor many times and each time I approach it, I recall how, on that first time, I had been so filled with unease. Now it is as familiar as my home.
Don’t find it, let it find you
I pulled out the rods and began to follow their energetic map. Gwas had wandered off so I was alone, other than the occasional solstice journeyer. The rods took me slowly around the mound counter clockwise and at one point I looked up towards to the Tor only to find Gwas marking pace with me some twenty-foot above me. Looks like our paths were running a parallel course. No surprise there then.
I reached the top just after Gwas and although there is a fair amount of space that is available at the top, the rods took me only a few feet away from where Gwas had landed. I sat for several moments enjoying the scene, the people and the weird music. Then I was up and ready for any work that needed to be done. Since my task of the moment was to reconnect with my energy double I took up the rods and began forming the question…”where should I go to connect with my energy double?” Whilst in the midst of asking the question, my goddess interrupted me…”Let it find you” she said and vanished quicker tan she had arrived.
Side note: How easy it is to say that. That a goddess just interrupted my flow and gave some instruction before vanishing. Honestly, you don’t know how strange it is to say that.
So, I sat back down and let my mind clear. Then I felt that I should lie on my stomach (don’t ask why, I just did). It was definitely a better feeling to lie there in the evening warmth (the sun was near the horizon I am certain, but alas was hidden by deep clouds). As I lay there I felt something I can only describe as smoke, seeping up from the Tor and into my stomach. It was a weird sensation. As this smoke seeped into me I realised that it was my energy double entering into my body. Wow! It had never done that before.

Smoke seeping into me
I continued to observe the sensation of this unusual experience and felt my stomach fill with the smoke that was my double. After a while I felt whole again. Again, odd that I say that, because before this experience I did not feel less so. But once completed I did get an overwhelming sense of wholeness. Definitely something to explore later when my double left me, as even then I knew it would. Would I feel less whole?
I am coming to the belief that miracles stem from our energy being. I haven’t got concrete proof as yet, nor any solid reasons as to why that belief came about. It is a gut feeling that miracles are the province of our energy being.
Lying there after my union with my double, that nagging thought came back to my haunt me…”Is this all real?” Yes, even after all these experiences that feeling occasionally rears its head. My double communed with me and said that it would give me proof (again!). I felt more smoke rise from deep within the Tor and this time rather than staying inside of me, it made its way through me and rose into the sky. This continued for a few minutes and then stopped.
Calling the sun
I rested in that position for a while longer and then felt the urge to roll over on to my back. I did so and was completely surprised to see that right above me there was a clear blue patch of sky. All around was a ring of heavy cloud, but there, right above me, where the smoke had risen into the air was a beautiful patch of blue sky.
