Samhain and Calling the Sun at King Arthur’s Stone

Arthurian, Experiment, How To

“Impossible” thus spoke Gwas as we got into the car at Hay on Wye. The rain had started to pour and looked like it would not be abating any time soon. I looked across at him, “Surely you have learned that that word does not apply when we’re on sacred journeys?”

It was the same argument we have half heartedly had over the last two years or so. Namely the Sun. This Albion, being the land of rain and clouds, means that often we have set of on sacred journeys all prepped to get wet. Well I say “all”, it is Gwas who is prepped. I go wrapped in trust.

We were about to go to the last site on our agenda, Arthur’s Stone and the rain began to make itself known in earnest. I told Gwas that we would be fine, and his response was, as mentioned, “Impossible”. My rejoinder was…“Take me to a sacred site and we’ll see.”

As we drove, the rain lashed down. It was only a thirty minute drive or so before we arrived at the fabled site. Parking the car, Gwas added some extra water proof clothing to his attire and I stepped out. Even as we approached the stones the rain began to ease. After making the requisite greetings to the Genius Loci, I asked whether it was okay to bring out the sun. The response was Yes. So I asked (the rods) to show me where I could do this.

The rods led me around the sacred site and then, quite unusually, led me around again, and again and again. As I perambulated the site, I was resonating with a memory of doing this very thing at another site…

It was many years (well less than 5) ago that Gwas and I were atop Llandrillo and moel ty uchaf. A hefty climb had led us to a marvelous sacred site that we began to explore with much enthusiasm. At that time my intuition was flowing with amazing connectivity and I realised that I could energise the sites energy by walking around it in a certain way.

As I walked around Arthur’s Stone I realised that I was energising the site and collecting that energy. After, I think, about 11 circuits, the rods stopped me and I knew that it was time to open up the clouds. I stared up at the 100% cloud covered sky. Impossible? Let’s see.

As you know, this last summer solstice I collected some Summer Solstice energy within me. Ready to use over the winter. Well, since that time, I have used it occasionally to bring out the sun. Would it work again? Slowly I let wisps of Summer energy be released from my Solar (sun chakra) plexus out into the sky above me.

I waited, nothing. Again I let some more energy out, this time visualising it combining with the energy that had been gathered from the sacred site. To my gratitude and Gwas’s astonishment, the clouds, right above us, began to clear. I drew hesitant breaths, not to lose the magic. But once again, it had worked. All around the geography of where we were the clouds were dull and grey. But above us, over a period of some minutes, they broke apart and the light of the sun (albeit near the horizon) lit up the sky.
