Autumn Equinox at Balmoral

Folks, you have been very patient with me while I am going through some transitions in my life. We used to post as regularly as clockwork. Now we’re posting as a when we can in between the whirlwind that our paths have become. The October Storms have come early for both Kal and I, despite the good weather all around us! Your patience is appreciated – stick with us. We have lots of great tales to tell you as the season changes.

I will start with the story of my transition through the Autumn Equinox. I hope it was eventful, but mostly fruitful for you. For me it was one door closing and another opening. A portal, truly! The Equinox fell during my week long holiday in Scotland. M and I had driven up from Cheshire into the heartland and highlands of The Cairngorms in our motorhome, and had decided to do some “wild camping”, parking at the side of the Old Military Road near to Balmoral Castle – advertising itself as the summer home of The Queen.

I felt edgy – I knew it was the Equinox the next morning, and I wanted to do something, but was I in the right place? Was this beautiful location a sacred space? I decided to get up early on the Equinox day to find out.

Northumberlandia and Newness

Northumberlandia – Cramlington, Northumberland

Since the land sculpture was finally revealed in 2012 I have had Northumberlandia close to the top of my wish list of places to visit. I was excited at the prospect of a truly modern act of regeneration which had a clear dedication to the Goddess in the land – The Lady of the North. This sculpture seemed to hold the promise of a modern sacred space which would be rampant in beautiful subtle energies.

Could it be true? Could a modern artist – Charlie Jencks – have created such a sacred energetic space out of the ruins of industrialisation? This regeneration project seemed hopeful and I was dying to find out. Luckily, on a holiday to Scotland recently I got the chance to find out for myself.

“His many landforms are based on the idea that landforming is a radical hybrid activity combining gardens, landscape, urbanism, architecture, sculpture, and epigraphy. Thus the landforms often include enigmatic writing and complex symbolism. Landforms provoke the visitor to interpret landscape on the largest and smallest scale.

Jencks has become a leading figure in British landscape architecture. His landscape work is inspired by fractals, genetics, chaos theory, waves and solitons” (source: Wikipedia)

Gift of the Faery – p12 Solstice 2014

Energy cleansing, Energy work, Faery, Glyphs and Wards, Pilgrimage, Protection, Spirit of Place

Would you adam and eve it (as we say here in the UK). We have had an incredible set of experiences here in the Emerald Isle. Certainly more than what we expected. And much more than what would qualify this trip as a success. Today we were up early and had planned a short visit … Read More “Gift of the Faery – p12 Solstice 2014” »

Breath of the Seasons

Nine Ladies stone circle, Stanton in the Peak, Derbyshire.

The Harvest Moon has arisen. As it now customary, Kal and I try to get out whenever the moon is full in order to make the maximum use of the strong female energies which reflect down onto the Earth at this time of the month. When we discussed a possible site we laughed that Nine Ladies was the front-runner. We recognise that this is the site that we pick when it comes to the end of Summer. There must be something in the way that the energies form at this time of year which attracts us.

Again Kal and I split up and go our separate ways. I find myself drawn to a nearby rowan tree, and I can feel the pull of The Watcher – that otherworldly presence which seems to inhabit the Nine Ladies woodland in a silent invisible vigil.

Sitting in a preparation place I begin asking why I am here. I am reminded that my current quest is to see from the other side of an energy portal. Are there any in this place? Then I remember the Watcher’s Portal, and laugh. How could I forget that tussle? Here’s a link to that episode.

When I ask for an energy portal I am not taken to the Watcher’s Portal, Instead I am led to a bent over birch tree. Experience tells me that to open the portal I may need to search for a kind of energetic combination lock. I ask if there is a sigil protecting the portal and find that there is. I open its four locks by stating my druid name and visualising my intention to use the portal. I wonder what happens now?

The Portal Prison

Crossing The Hedge, Death Eating, Healing, Hedge Druidry, Quests, Trees, Visions

This tale occurs just before my quest to “Kill Gwas” – something which I have almost fulfilled. I was invited to go to the Llangernyw Yew in the middle of August. Kal needed some urgent answers about his future direction, and I am always looking to go out and meet ancient yew trees. We always seem to get work to do when communing with the ancient yew, and it is usually related to death energy or learning about The Underworld. No exception today.

On arrival I asked to be taken to a place where I could learn something. I was taken to a quiet spot underneath one of the smaller yew trees, and there I felt I needed to cleanse. To get rid of the worldly energies that I brought with me. In the last month I have realised that much of our work is a process of cleansing, energising and synergising (integrating the new energy to transform). I now call this process “Reconstellation” (see Reconstellation.com)

The Brain Trust

After cleansing I was taken to a power centre which was in front of a specific gravestone. As I stood in the flow of its energy I began to connect to the nearby mighty yew tree. Once in communication I was able to ask the question:

“Why am being shown this grave stone?”

I was at the grave of a lady called Gwyneth Parry I found that I will be able to heal the disease that she died of. I felt the spirit of  The Green Man come though to me, as he had done before in this graveyard. I asked to be given information about what this grave meant to me. A few seconds later the phrase “brain tumour” came to mind. I have no idea if this is correct, because I can’t validate that yet. However, what I could validate was whether I was able to energetically affect brain tumours. The astonishing result of that enquiry is … yes, I am told I can. Now I need to give that a go and see if it’s true in practise, rather than in theory. I am looking to contact some cancer charities to see if energetic healing is on their radar at all.

I asked if there was anything else I needed to consider, and The Otter card from the Wildwood Tarot came to mind. It had been the forgotten aspect of my tarot draw for the Ireland Summer Solstice trip. Now I was being invited to consider these aspects:

“Contemplating things with a considerate heart.  Learning trust.  Serving with love. Refusing to listen. Living only in the imagination.” (source: Wildblog!)

Page of Vessels - Otter Wildwood Tarot
Otter – Page of Vessels

I think I understand. I would need to be single-minded about the move I was about to make – the leap of faith as I launched my new business alone. I needed to trust, to be considerate of others in this process, and to refuse to listen to the doubters who might scoff at the idea that I could make a living doing this “new age nonsense”, as many would no doubt think of it.

But the best was yet to come. That was the easy stuff! Now came something altogether more testing!

Bran’s quick healing

Finally we can get to the posts about things that happened after the Summer Solstice! Shortly after our return from Ireland we found an opportunity to go to Wales to visit one of our favourite sites – Dinas Bran.

It was a really hot day, and so we climbed the steep hill very very slowly, yet still we were wringing wet with sweat when we reached the summit. Luckily, Dinas Bran always has a stiff breeze to cool you down – often when you don’t want it! Today, however, it was most welcome.

The Death of Gwas

You will remember that I had been told to kill off Gwas. Having agreed to do that several things began to come together to reinforce that decision. Firstly, my full time job came to an end! I had about a month’s notice in order to re-position myself and work out whether I wanted to find another soul-sucking position in an industry that I didn’t agree with. I needed help!

As a druid I turned to my natural sources of information – my spirit guides. Yes, “guides” plural. I recently found I have more than one! I made frequent trips out into Nature and spent time meditating on the correct course of action. Each time I would return with the idea that it was now time to take on the mantle of the title “druid”, and this meant that I needed to go it alone. “Ah, that would be the ‘hedge’ part of that title!” Not quite. Going it alone and starting a new business would mean that actually I would have to do the opposite of going alone – I would have to open up to the world and engage with it on a level I had never before attempted. *Gulp*

I needed Bran‘s help. He was the one who had time and again pushed me to learn new skills, and he was a wise “head” on ancient shoulders. I felt a particular trust with this entity, and wanted his opinion on my future direction. Hence, a journey to Dinas Bran.

Ladies and Gentlemen – the time has come. If you have been following this blog for any amount of time then you will be familiar with a character called Gwas. Over the years you will have witnessed his journey from a fledgling dowser and druid. Where has Gwas ended up at this point, though? Gwas … Read More “Who is Gwas? All is revealed!” »
