After spending a delightful lunchtime in the company of our Irish hosts Regina and David, we set off again heading for a site which we had visited before – Knockbrach – a hill which we knew had a ‘fort’ on top. David, however, wanted to show us some other structures on the hill that we might not have known about. How exciting! What were these structures? Regina drove us to the foot of the hill and we tumbled out into the summer sunshine, yet clothed against the cool wind.

As we walked up, chatting and enjoying the spray of summer flowers creating fan patterns as they flowed in chorus with the breeze, there was an increasing sense of increasing our senses. Everything was being heightened as we climbed. Their “yellowness” was commented on, considering my experience at Fourknocks mound.

Half way up we stopped. Regina had sensed something and was taking an interest in a climb of bushes on the hillside to our left. We noted it, and said that we would return once the “main event” was over.

At the top of the hill David guided us off the main path which led towards the tall radio mast, and instead we veered left into another field. Here, he said, were some ancient mounds that might be interesting.

I recently took part in some extra-curricular meditating. It’s the best kind. During one of my Nature meditation groups one of the participants had once though she saw a door outlined in a rock face as she was meditating. The ace meditation teacher John David Kirby [Facebook page] had been really taken by this idea, and had suggested that anyone interested in doing a meditation on “The Portal” should hang around after out meditation session and we could explore this potential way into The Otherworld. So we arranged to do that.

Out of the group, there were four of us who stayed for the meditation, and coincidentally it was on the evening of a full moon.

What’s through…The Arched Window?

We lit a small controlled fire to take the chill off. Once this had died down and the chatter had subsided we naturally got into a meditative posture. I had dowsed around for the best place for me to do this work, and had offered my dowsing rods for other to use do the same. Now we all had our ideal places in front of the rock portal.

Minutes later I turned my meditative state of mind to the door itself. The outline of the door’s edge seemed to glow as the flames gently subsided to a flicker. A wire-frame shape formed – it was like a 3-D arch – the poles of a small camping tent. Then the door opened up and I stepped inside.

In the portal was a space big enough to hold me standing. As I stood there the floor disappeared revealing a stairway down inside the bole of a tree. I recognised this image from previous meditations, and I walked down the stairs going deeper into The Otherworld with each step.

At the bottom of the stairs was a small door. Somehow, like Alice In Wonderland, I shrank to fit through the tiny door that was carved into the base of the tree, and as it opened a fantastical cartoon world appeared before me. I knew it well, as I had been here many times before. But what would be waiting for me this time?

The Healing Power of Wells

Before we come to the Winter Solstice posts there are a few things to get out of the way. Firstly, there was my visit to two healing wells in December, and I will be relating that tale here. Then, following this post, we will finish Kal’s Egyptian tales in quick succession. Then we’ve got our Winter Solstice posts, and finally – some time in January – we’ll have our summaries of the year. Phew! Enough to keep you (and us) busy until Imbolc!

On a dull and damp day I dragged my friend Psychic Mike out on a mission related to my healing quest. the current quest from Samain to Solstice is to practise energy healing, and to gather the necessary energies to do this. So it was that I decided to visit two healing wells in the locality – Ffynnon Ddyfnog and Ffynnon Sarah. One new one and one I’ve visited before. I got my inspiration for the new one from Phil Cope‘s book “Holy Wells: Wales – a photographic journey”

Lovely Llanrhaeadr

The first well that we visited was associated with the nearby church and by extension also associated with Saint Ddyfnog. The church stands like a glorious gateway for the well and a stunning centrepiece to the small village of Llanrhaeadr, a village a few miles south-east of the town of Denbigh in Flintshire.

The church was beautiful, surprisingly large for the size of the village, and had a lovely communal feel. As we entered the church we passed a gentleman who was working in the porch. He soon followed us inside offering many insightful and amusing stories about the church’s history. The most stunning feature was the impressive stained glass window…

We enquired casually about the sacred well, and were directed through the graveyard, past a lovely row of almshouses and found a muddy path which ran alongside a clear stream. The path covered in leaves which made the going slippy, but it was worth it. The journey was lined with stunning yew trees and ferns alongside the stream.

Soon we were crossing a little bridge over the stream, in search of something magical. Everything changed from that moment onwards!

The Portal Prison

This tale occurs just before my quest to “Kill Gwas” – something which I have almost fulfilled. I was invited to go to the Llangernyw Yew in the middle of August. Kal needed some urgent answers about his future direction, and I am always looking to go out and meet ancient yew trees. We always seem to get work to do when communing with the ancient yew, and it is usually related to death energy or learning about The Underworld. No exception today.

On arrival I asked to be taken to a place where I could learn something. I was taken to a quiet spot underneath one of the smaller yew trees, and there I felt I needed to cleanse. To get rid of the worldly energies that I brought with me. In the last month I have realised that much of our work is a process of cleansing, energising and synergising (integrating the new energy to transform). I now call this process “Reconstellation” (see Reconstellation.com)

The Brain Trust

After cleansing I was taken to a power centre which was in front of a specific gravestone. As I stood in the flow of its energy I began to connect to the nearby mighty yew tree. Once in communication I was able to ask the question:

“Why am being shown this grave stone?”

I was at the grave of a lady called Gwyneth Parry I found that I will be able to heal the disease that she died of. I felt the spirit of The Green Man come though to me, as he had done before in this graveyard. I asked to be given information about what this grave meant to me. A few seconds later the phrase “brain tumour” came to mind. I have no idea if this is correct, because I can’t validate that yet. However, what I could validate was whether I was able to energetically affect brain tumours. The astonishing result of that enquiry is … yes, I am told I can. Now I need to give that a go and see if it’s true in practise, rather than in theory. I am looking to contact some cancer charities to see if energetic healing is on their radar at all.

I asked if there was anything else I needed to consider, and The Otter card from the Wildwood Tarot came to mind. It had been the forgotten aspect of my tarot draw for the Ireland Summer Solstice trip. Now I was being invited to consider these aspects:

“Contemplating things with a considerate heart. Learning trust. Serving with love. Refusing to listen. Living only in the imagination.” (source: Wildblog!)

I think I understand. I would need to be single-minded about the move I was about to make – the leap of faith as I launched my new business alone. I needed to trust, to be considerate of others in this process, and to refuse to listen to the doubters who might scoff at the idea that I could make a living doing this “new age nonsense”, as many would no doubt think of it.

But the best was yet to come. That was the easy stuff! Now came something altogether more testing!

4 Beltane 2014 – Carnac and the Taliesin Quest Pt2

This post is the culmination of my Spring to Beltane quest which I have called “The Muse of Taliesin“, although I have also been calling it the Taliesin Awen quest too. I love confusion – it makes the brain work harder. In the first part of this post we had just left The Giant’s Stone in search of the Kerlescan alignments. These stones are not at the popular end of the fields. The only tourists who seem to wander this far are either the truly dedicated, or the ones being transported by the tourist bus. Perfect for we intrepid explorers seeking to do some energy work in peace.

We wander past the main field of stones, Kal testing each entry gate to see if they are locked, They are. Well, if one was open, then that would be an invitation to enter, would it not? The dowsing rods were giving us clear indications that this was the section in which we would need to work. How could that be, we wondered? Walking round the back of the field we find that there is a house overlooking the area – another strong incentive NOT to hop over the fence. We are about to give up hope, but instead decide to ask where the best place to work might be, because there is one stone outside of the fence. Perhaps here?

Indeed so! The rods indicate that I can begin my work at this stone. Kal asks the same question and the rods point to a stone inside the field, towards the back, almost beneath a canopy of trees. He moves away to investigate how he might access that stone. Possibly remotely? No need! He returns to point out a unique “feature” – a small set of steps in the wall at just the point where the fence meets the wall. One step and you are over into the small gap between fence and wall. It’s too good to be true – an open invitation to work! By a perfect coincidence the area is hidden from view of the nearby house courtesy of some tall shrubs. Well then, we accept the invitation!

Cloak of the Green Man

It was shortly after the visit to Dinas Bran in Llangollen that an opportunity arose to visit the old Llangernyw Yew tree near Conwy. Of course the weather reports said “rain” so we planned for sun. It was sunny. The shadows were lengthening at the end of the day, but the temperature was still warm. Always handy if you’re walking through a graveyard because it keep the chill of the shades off you!

I was here to try to learn something more about my new yew staff which I had recently acquired in Glastonbury, and which had just been “initiated” (charged up) at Dinas Bran. Now I wanted to know about the energy that it now contained – was there a spirit form associated with it (as there had been for my previous staff – the ash staff)?

Straight away on our arrival I put up protection. Recent experience had made me more careful. Although I felt I knew this place, maybe there had been some recent new arrivals? Better safe than ill! Kal immediately went off dowsing and I headed up to the church area to see where I should be going first.

Solstice 2013 – Diving Between Worlds at The Hurlers

On our last visit to Bodmin Moor years ago we had encountered all sort of strangeness in the mists surrounding The Hurlers stone circles near the village of Minions. We were therefore quite expectant of more interesting times, but hopefully with a clearer view of the landscape this time, and a slightly higher temperature might be more inviting too. So, we were a touch crest-fallen when we arrived and visibility was down to a hundred feet or so. Would we see The Hurlers in clear daylight at all? We got kitted out for a damp situation.

Eerie. Bleak. Confusing. Damp. Bodmin Moor the day before the Summer Solstice. It could have been the depths of Winter except that there were occasional signs of greenery which might not have been there in the Winter months. Dark shapes loomed at us as we made our way down the main track then veered off towards the faint impression of a standing stone. The second we left the track we were nervous. This is the kind of place where people disappear for days, yet we knew that the village and the car park at the end of it were only a few hundred feet away. Yet they were invisible.
