Camelot Tarot 2015 – The First Half

Camelot Tarot 2015 – The First Half
Arthurian, Tarot

It has become almost a tradition for me to do a tarot reading in order to both frame the year, and to inspire my outings. This year I had not felt the need to do a reading until March. This surprised me, but I went with the feeling. Now was the time.

As usual I let my spirit guide (and now my ‘new’ ancestral guide) help determine which cards would best describe and depict my coming year. We chose the “Camelot Oracle” cards. Given the relationship that has been established with Arthur so far this year I wasn’t surprised. He was clearly going to be my central figure, my Camelot resident for this year.

I used the supplied sheet with its eight points and I drew cards that I wanted to link in to the eight Celtic festival dates. In this post I will describe the first set of cards drawn for Imbolc through to Summer Solstice.

My guiding star

My archetype – the card I would use as the central fixed theme for the year – was obviously King Arthur. To me he represented a fixed point in many ways this year – he represented the cardinal point North, the Pole Star, The Great Bear fixed constellation, and qualities such as strength, steadfastness and leadership. Like the Pole Star I might think of him as a “guiding light”.

Next I drew cards for the eight points in the year from Imbolc to Winter Solstice. The first set of cards came out like this.

New beginnings and New things at Dinas Bran

Looking up at Bran

I would go into the synchronicities that occurred to get me to the station on time to meet up with Chris. But those go without saying these days. Suffice to say that even a seasoned veteran like me was taken by surprise.

Up until today the weather had been unsettled. A mix of sun, rain, sleet, wind and snow was not uncommon. However on this day, the sun was beaming with the promise of a beautiful and lasting change.

With blessings in our hearts we set off for an afternoon of pleasure at the Table of Bran. The drive was swift and uncomplicated and soon we arrived at the footsteps of the hill. Stopping at a place further down than our normal want meant a steeper and longer climb. Fortunately, due to the intercession of one Goddess in my life, I had had some measure of preparation (see the resonance of Caileach here).

The White, The Red and The Rose

Posted on March 13, 2015March 13, 2015 By Chris No Comments on The White, The Red and The Rose
Hedge Druidry

The sky was blue, the sun was out, and the weather was warm. Was it Spring? Well, it was the beginning of March, but you could be mistaken for thinking it was at least a month later in the year. Like fledglings stretching their furry wings we roused ourselves to make for our favourite perch – Dinas Bran. As always Bran delivered.

The evocative ruins lured us upwards until we stopped to consider our rightful path. Dowsing rods came out and rather unexpectedly we were both led by the same energetic path to reach the same entry point – and it was the normal entrance that 80% of tourists to the site must use to go in. For us that was unusual. I think it’s probably the first time we’ve been in that way, and the first time that we’ve both had the same way in on the same day.

Others had the same draw as us for the hilltop was thronging with people. Children were sword-fighting, and that reminded me of my Sword and Shield motif, which I then promptly forgot again. There was no time for play – this was a great chance to do some work. I dowsed for the ideal location for me to get information that would progress my spiritual path. Those of you who follow regularly will recognise this request. A good starting point for adventure! I was taken away from the hordes, and round the back to a shady area I have been to many times before. Ah, it was like coming home.

Time Space Place Presence Intention

A simple question often leads to a complex answer. So it was in this instance. A couple of friends and I had the opportunity to watch a film called Oui-Ja. It wasn’t my idea, quite the opposite. However I bowed to the majority and so found myself suffering through another Hollywood attempt at depicting the … Read More “Time Space Place Presence Intention” »

New Moon, Wizards and Goddesses

Lunacy is a word that I agree with in that a full moon drives it crazy. So a new moon has quite the opposite effect on me. Yesterday was one such evening and I was in a mind to travel to the Wizards wood, namely Alderley Edge. I arrived whilst it was still light and … Read More “New Moon, Wizards and Goddesses” »

The Resonance of Caileach

Honestly, our adventures surprise us on a daily basis. From one synchronicity and strange occurrence do we wander. Seemingly aimless and yet specifically guided. We had spent considerable time looking for the Church of St Michael prior to our time at Arthur’s Well without success and then literally a few minutes after leaving that place … Read More “The Resonance of Caileach” »

Death is coming

Posted on March 3, 2015 By Chris 1 Comment on Death is coming
Death is coming
Hedge Druidry

A druid is asked to work with both light and darkness. The concepts of druidry seem to me to be centred around the concept of balance. All too often the concepts of life and death are separated out into their extremities. I like to think of existence as a sphere across whose surface we move from the reflected light of life through to the shadowed dark side of death. Often clouds of darkness move over our existence, or spots of intense aliveness light it up. This particular experience made me think about a darker aspect: death.

I was thinking about how much of this blog deals with a balance of light and dark. I have skills that I used with the darker aspects just as much as I work with the light. I do healing, but it could as easily be used to harm. I do death eating, yet I use it to ground spirits for their benefit. I clean and clear sites, but that is a destruction as much as a creation. I energise people and places for their benefit, but I could as easily taint. The differentiator is only intention. I have almost exclusively chosen to work with good intention.

My wife is becoming more psychically aware. She’s doing a course on energy healing, and in a moment of inspiration she needed to find a way to get some of her questions answered. Speaking with her I said “Well you know, really it’s all about you…”. She stopped the sentence before I could go on. “‘All about yew’….’ she echoed. “Which yew tree?” she asked, “The one you visit?“. She meant The Llangernyw Yew. I knew this was the right place to take her for inspiration, so we decided to go that afternoon.
