It’s only rarely that I go to a sacred site and find that I am there to offer someone else advice, rather than learn something myself. Knowth, one of the treasures of the Boyne Valley complex in Ireland, offered me both opportunities on my last visit. On this visit I would hear a dire warning for Kal, and also encounter the spirit offering that warning, learning something new about dragon energies in the process. Go grab some refreshments and light snacks – this one’s a long one!

We skipped Newgrange. Although we had tickets to see both sites, we really wanted to start with Knowth. After our productive last visit this was where we wanted to spend our first afternoon, and then move to Dowth just a mile or so away.

We arrived and immediately asked for permission from the tour guide to dispense with her well-rehearsed wisdom. We needed free reign to wander where the rods instructed us to go, and soon we had negotiated this freedom, and off we went.

I was taken past one of the openings in the large central mound, and then the rods swerved to lead me via a zig-zag path until I was sat at the far end of an open remnant of a chamber.

For the last five years I’ve driven a silver Honda Accord. I loved that car. It has taken me all over the country and never failed in its job of providing comfort, security, safety and transport. Alas a couple of weeks ago someone slammed into the door and caused enough damage for it to written off by the insurers.

Prologue…

I had just driven home from spending the night at a friends. we had talked late into the night and I was, as they say, dog tired. As I got to my rooms my thoughts were on a long resting sleep (it was Saturday) However a friends text caught my attention and I replied that I would meet him in 30 minutes for a catch-up and coffee. “Why did I do that?” I asked myself as I got changed and attempted to freshen up. I picked up my phone to cancel the meet but then put it down again. 

As I rushed around I knocked over a lamp and then fell over a chair. It was not going well at all. Then I left my keys in the room as I got to the car. Another missed sign. I drove towards town and my thought was to park in my favourite car park, but then I thought that it would be more convenient to park in another one. For some moments the two vied with each other and rationality won and I chose the latter over my favourite. 

The latter was a superstore car park and at this time in the morning it was fairly empty. I parked up in a bay surrounded by empty bays and opened my door to get out…then…crash.

For a guy who talks about signs a lot I sure know how to miss them spectacularly.

So, I was on the look out for a car. As with many things these days, I wondered whether I could dowse for an appropriate car? The answer was Yes and not only Yes, but that I should dowse for one.

A higher self comes knocking…

This life (as opposed to any other life) is stranger than strange and this comes from a guy who has seen and experience much weirdness. The other day I was sat with a dear lady when a voice from the ether enters my mind.

“You can share your aura”

What? Who? Where? Were the questions that entered my mind. Now you have to have realised by now that I can recognise an external voice when it enters my mind. Particularly when said voice says something mysteriously odd.

My dear friend and I were watching some film or other when this voice had interrupted me so it wasn’t like I was thinking about auras and sharing. However before I could formulate a question, the voice came again…

“You can share your aura”

Another thing that I have to point out here is that I am not a one for hearing voices. I mean, yes, I go out into the world and commune with various beings, however, rarely has my normal state of mind been interrupted thus.

Addressing the owner of this voice I asked “who or what are you?” and to my surprise I got an answer.

Dark workers at large

It was a sunny Sunday morning, in a peaceful suburb of Manchester when darkness loomed. Sounds like the opening of a Agatha Christie ‘Miss Marple’ novel doesn’t it? Sadly, as with her stories, the tale gets dark pretty soon.

I was with a friend, at a laundry, just passing the time, you know. When I noticed a couple of Asian gentlemen passed by the window. I don’t know why they caught my attention, but they did. They had looked in and seen me too, but had carried on. Then, a few seconds later they reappeared and walked into the laundry.

Innocent enough so far – maybe they were lost and needed direction? They approached me and opened up a conversation. apparently they were holy pilgrims looking to raise money for some place of prayer to be built. I listened with that sinking feeling that your pocket is going to be lighter. After a few minutes of listening to this tale, I patted my pockets and brought out a couple of pounds.

The main man shook his head and carried on talking. For some reason my attention had drifted from what he was saying and when I refocused I realised that he was after a much larger donation of multiple tens of pounds! I have to confess to you that I had had a long night with little sleep so I was fairly tired, still, there was no way I was parting with that kind of money.

Again, my focus had drifted and as I gathered my thoughts I realised that the man had gone onto to talk about how my fortunes and dreams would come alive because I was a giving person and one of piety. He brought out a scrap of paper and wrote something in Arabic on it, folded it and asked me to hold it. Whilst he prayed.

It was at these strange request that I looked at one and then the other. The other guy who had seemed silent at first, I now realised was muttering something under his breath and holding some kind of medallion in his hand. Again, my focus wandered. Of course I attributed it to my tiredness.

Some people like to take their holidays in a place they know and love. Me too – but let me qualify that statement. For me holidays are about an opportunity to visit somewhere I haven’t been before in a place that I know I love – Britain. You can imagine, though, that having spent over 40 years in these islands finding new places is getting more difficult. M and I therefore agreed that Hampshire and The South Downs should be our target as we had little knowledge of that region.

Before we left I did very little research. I had an idea that I might get to some of the places mentioned in Andrew Collins‘ book “The Black Alchemist“. Something, however, was keeping me away from such places. I think I know why, but that’s another story.

I wasn’t expecting much ‘activity’ as I was supposed to be having time away to rest. However, one day I looked at the map and saw that we were travelling near to a place I’ve always wanted to visit: The Long Man of Wilmington. We had to go!

On arrival we realised that it was pretty busy. If you visit in a motorhome you’ll find that you can’t park at the car park at the top of the village. There’s another place further up the road, so we pulled up there. We were now on Windover Hill – a place teeming with ancient remnants. None more impressive than the giant on the hill, though.
