Spring Equinox 2013 – Day of the Crow Part 3

Posted on March 31, 2013March 31, 2013 By Gwas No Comments on Spring Equinox 2013 – Day of the Crow Part 3
Ancient Sites, Dowsing, Hedge Druidry, Spirits, Trees, Wheel of the Year

In this third part of my Spring Equinox quest to link the four sites of a landscape sigil based on the elements we come to the Earth site – Caer Caradog. The snows that covered the hills on that day are still with us weeks later as we go into April, that’s how embedded this cold snap was. On the Spring Equinox I had to be quick at my work because this was no time to hang around enjoying the views!

Saying that, I was lucky to get to Caer Caradog at all. Although I had it pinned on a map as a specific location down to the smallest possible degree, that wasn’t the issue. I knew where it was – I just couldn’t get to it! As I came up through the slightly famous village of Cerrigydrudion (partly thanks to Julian Cope‘s song) I came across my first barrier – a diversion sign due to a roadworks on the tiny B5105 country road that led straight to the hillfort.

Two way to get to Caer Caradog - the hard and the harder way
Two way to get to Caer Caradog – the hard and the harder way

I circumvented the roadworks by going all the way around the hill and up the other side of it to arrive on the top and drive past the top of the hill whilst looking for s stopping point. Ah! The next barrier is parking. There isn’t any. I took my chances with the roadworks and parked up at pretty much the only space in the tiny road where two cars could pass safely. That was almost at the bottom of the slop, so that meant a long climb back up to get to the hill. *Sigh* – another climb today. I hope the universe is watching this display of dedication!

If you’re thinking of visiting yourself I’d have a read of the accounts on the Modern Antiquarian site. They give you a flavour of the ‘welcome’ you can expect – public rights of way ignored, new fences of barbed wire criss-crossing your path, and lots of mud on the way up. I fought all the barriers, all the methods intended to dissuade the casual visitor and trepidacious tourist – I am neither of those things – I had a mission to accomplish.

Exorcising an Incubus

Posted on January 17, 2013January 23, 2013 By Gwas No Comments on Exorcising an Incubus
Dowsing, Energy cleansing, House Energies book, Other Entities

This post is a continuation of the previous post called “Poltergeist Pet“. In this second part I will be describing the investigations that Kal and I did to discover and eradicate a disturbing spirit that was plaguing three teenage girls in a quiet suburban house.

Having discovered that the energetic remnants of a pet was causing some of the more mundane disturbances, we were left with a set of reported symptoms that were much more sinister and threatening. Psychologically the symptoms sounded like the phenomenon of Sleep Paralysis, yet the rest of the reported symptoms did not match that! There was something else going on here.

Indeed, when I had remotely dowsed the house to ensure I was going into a hell hole, the one question that I was invited to answer from my checklist – the one deemed most important – was the one that asked how long it would be until the energy disturbance became life or mind-threatening. The answers was just over two weeks from the initial contact. We had to act fast! Now we were on site and prepared, so I set about investigating the second set of symptoms.

Teenage girls and poltergeist activity – a classic combination

The Feeling at the Top of the Stairs

The first patch of ‘heaviness’ was to be found at the top of the stairs, on the landing. This was where the girls had described a large proportion of the disturbance as emanating from. They were right. I could feel the energy in the air and it set my arm hairs tingling and my stomach cramping. Definitely a subtle energy spot there – the air positively bristled with it.

Still in search of the source of the sinister energy the rods began to take me on a tour of the bedrooms, turning at various key points, then leading me into the bathroom, but ending at the pillow on the bed of one of the girls. This was the end point for the energy trail – the location of the entity itself. I made a note to get Kal to check that later.

I went back to look at the heavy presence in the other girls’ shared bedroom too.

Knights Pilgrimage 3 of 5 Phoenix and the Dragon

Posted on April 9, 2012April 9, 2012 By kal 2 Comments on Knights Pilgrimage 3 of 5 Phoenix and the Dragon
Quests

This is part of my knights pilgrimage. for all the other posts related to this please click this (Knights Pilgrimage)  link and follow in order. Or just dive in and have fun!

Cars

In the previous post I had just left a couple on their way to their car and I was walking down a path which I hoped would lead to mine as the night was closing in. Fortunately it did and I was amazingly relieved. Hang on though, I thought as looking for my keys. Where am I supposed to go next? And had I done what was needed at the Forest of Dean? I asked the latter question first.

  • Was I done with the forest? Yes. Considering all I had done was show a lost couple out of the forest. Was this what I was supposed to have done? Yes. That’s it? No. Was there a lesson in it for me? Yes.

I am not one for lessons, I have to say. And as I considered this, I heard some people walking towards me and stopped my dowsing to let them pass. I was shocked when they came into the light of passing cars. It was Beverly and Darren. The couple I had just left in the forest. They were as surprised to see me as I was them.

Lost

“Are you still lost?” I asked. They responded no, and pointed to the only other car parked near mine. “That’s our car.” I was stunned. What! I pointed to the other car and said to them. That’s mine. I was expecting surprise and shock. What I got was suspicion. “Well, thank you for your help.” They sidled passed me got into their car and drove off in haste. Gosh! People!

A little tip for you. When we’re out in the midst of sacred sites looking for direction and guidance. One of the ways we try to find the relevant event or incident is simply by breaking up the events into parts and asking, “was that relevent?” for each part. Simple, stupid, but often effective.

So, I began asking about each part of the day to find the missing link so to speak.

  • Was it the crows that led me to the forest? No
  • Was it my adventurous spirit to go? No
  • Was it bumping into the couple? Kind-of (Ok, this is where one rod swings in but the other doesn’t. Come on you know this already, right?)
  • Was it helping them find their way out? Kind-of.
  • Was it that their car and mine where in the same place? No. I was expecting a yes here.
  • Was it that they were lost? Yes.

Lost? Why was their being lost the message or guidance for me. Added to this was helping them find their way out. Definitely something to muse over on my pilgrimage.

Pilgrim notes

As an exercise, I thought that I would compile a notebook for the specific messages that I got on this diary so here it is so far:

  1. Following and trusting my totem (crow)
  2. Finding a couple who are lost
  3. Helping them (reluctantly) find their car.

The Longest Drive

Was my pilgrimage complete? No. Come on, I had to ask. Okay where to next? Which direction? Thank god for my iPhone compass. I dowsed in a circle and ended up pointing south, according to my compass.

I thought of some places to the south, bare in my mind that my geography is appalling.

  • Glastonbury? It was an obvious choice and the No wasn’t surprising.
  • Avebury (was that south of here?) no matter, the answer was no.
  • Stonehenge? No
  • Tintagel? Okay, I know it’s South-West from the forest now, but at that time I didn’t. Anyway the answer was No.

    dean to merry maidens

Alright, it was time to try a different tack. Was it further than Glastonbury? Yes. Further than Stonehenge? Yes. Was it a (known to me) Sacred Site? Yes. Had I been there? Yes. Was it further than Tintagel? I was really hoping for a no to this one, but got a yes. O Crap! I cast my mind back to my stay in Devon and the sites I had visited.

  • Hurlers? No
  • Pipers Stones? No
  • Any of the number of churches? No
  • The Fogou, the name escaped me. No.
  • Merry Maidens? Yes.

What! Seriously? The merry maidens? Why? Did I have to go there now? Yes. What? Why? I plugged the destination into my sat nav. 240 miles! Just under 5 hours! It was 7pm now! Am I insane? Don’t answer that.

The Dancing Coven

I drove and drove. Luckily or not, I’m used to these loooong haul drives having done them for a year or so. Even so. I had better get something useful out of this. Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, written by J.K. Rowling and read by the amazing reader, Stephen Fry was my companion on this long journey. Amazingly I was only up to the point when they (Harry, Hermione and Ron) go down the trapdoor when I turned onto the lane that is adjacent to the Merry Maidens. I parked up the car and looked across into the field. There was a small fire burning in it. I got out of the car and for some reason, quietly closed my door so the sound wouldn’t carry. After waiting a few moments I walked up to the edge of the surrounding bushes and peered into the field. There were several people in the field. I wondered if they had spotted my car. It wasn’t visible over the bushes but the light must have been. Hang on though I thought, I had as much right to be here as anyone else. So why was I hesitating?

Spiral Part 3: Nine Stones and a gift beyond measure

Dowsing, Natural Magick, Theory, Trees

This post is preceded by Part One (A Call to the Nine Ladies) and Part Two (Doll Tor and the Hidden Gem). A trip to Derbyshire isn’t complete without visiting the fabulous Nine Stones Close sacred site. I have to say that our first visit to this site wasn’t promising. We had felt that the energies … Read More “Spiral Part 3: Nine Stones and a gift beyond measure” »

Spiral Part 1: A call to the nine ladies

Ghosts and shades, Natural Magick

Do you follow your dreams? The other night I was sleeping like a babe in arms when I awoke suddenly and was fortunate enough to recall the dream I was having. It was set in the (semi) wilds of Derbyshire at a sacred that many of you will now be familiar with, the Nine Ladies. … Read More “Spiral Part 1: A call to the nine ladies” »

The Circle and The Spiral – escaping suffering
Healing, Theory

My wife had a friend. She has worked with this friend a long time ago and they used to have happy times, but then her friend began to succumb to the stresses and strains of working in the mental health profession, and rapidly began to suffer from the very symptoms she was trying to cure. … Read More “The Circle and The Spiral – escaping suffering” »

What is the fifth task?

Posted on September 16, 2010September 10, 2026 By kal No Comments on What is the fifth task?
Edge Wizardry

A while ago I was told that I was on a quest, or would experience five tasks. That to fulfill a four year spiral I needed to go through these, otherwise I would have to travel the same spiral again. To walk the same spiral again is so against what I am that I just … Read More “What is the fifth task?” »
