It’s always a spiral

Reconstructed initiation chamber at Park Wood

Gwas and I hadn’t been out like in forever! Well about 5 weeks. Which in our friendship seemed like forever. So he drove 3 hours and I drove 2 and we met in the hamlet(ish) of Chepstow.

We then made our first stop of the day. An easy to access burial mound that I remarked to Gwas as looking quite like Newgrange in Ireland. Though obviously a lot smaller

Having checked the weather forecast last week. The weather wise-people had predicted thundery and heavy showers. Not really my kind of weather so I had been sending out positive sunny weather vibes. And surprisingly (or not) it had worked. The weather was cloudy but the sun kept saying hello.

Gwas and I approached the site and went through some preliminary introductions and investigations.

  • Were we welcome at the site?
  • Was there anything to learn at this site?

As is normal for us, we both split off and did our “own” thing. My main concern was that I was approaching a deadline for my knights quest and seemed to be lagging in completion of acquiring and completing the blue keys.

I wondered whether I could gain some insight at this site. The answer was a resounding yes. Which makes me wonder again…Do we pick the sites or do the sites pick us?

Without much ado I found the most suitable place to go for this knowledge acquisition which happened to be the first chamber to the left and quietened my thoughts. As is becoming the norm, my thoughts filled with answers. I was indeed loxing in my questing and was in danger of going around the spiral again. But I also got a strong sense of missing something.

I left the chamber and perambulated around the site (in an anti-clockwise direction. Just in case it matters). What was I missing? My quest was due for completion in 6 weeks. I had only half the promised keys and 2 of those where in dire need of completion. All this was obvious. What else was there.

I asked the rods whether I could learn more. Another Yes had me back in the same chamber…I was indeed missing something and I was shown a little bit of our drive to this site. As we were about 10 or so miles away we had passed a sign saying “St Helen” at the time I was about to remark to Gwas as to the sign, but forgot it. Now I was being reminded again of St Helen. The place where my quest had begun.

Again, I left the chamber to ponder this refresh of knowledge. I thought back to the beginning of my quest at St Helen’s Well.

As I mulled over this I recalled something that I had completely forgot! My quest wasn’t to be completed in October. Rather it was at that point that the embodied Cailleach would direct me as to where my quest would take me next.

Wow! It had completely slipped my mind. There was more. I was also given to understand that we always go around new spirals. We don’t go around the same spiral again. This lifted my spirits somewhat until I asked whether I still needed to acquire the keys? Yes.

So some good news and some not so much. A wonderful start to the day.

Kal Malik Questing renewed.
