Merry Maidens – a warning

Quests

I had just left King Arthurs castle at Tintagel and was off to the Merry Maidens to learn more about my Knights Quest. The Maidens is one of the easiest sites to access, basically park your car, go through a fence gate and hey presto. I had been here in the spring time and gained some great insights, I was hoping for no less this time.

Being so accessible makes this sacred site quite popular and when I arrived there was a caravan parked up by the side of the road and several people were wandering around. Curious, because the last time I was here I realised that the other people in attendance mattered as to where the most beneficial place for me was.

  • Note to self: We will have to explore this further as we have assumed that our beneficial place is pretty static once we get to a site (astronomical bodies inclusive).

I ignored the other people and went about my work. Simple really. Find a place to meditate, set my intention as to what I wanted to learn about, and go. With that I dowsed to find a suitable place and, again as so often happens, it was right where I had placed my bag. Cool. I determined a direction and sat down to await inspiration. The intention I had set was to learn more about the tournament key that I had received at Tintagel earlier that day.

My thoughts cleared and I was seeing a stage with hundreds of people sat before it in rows. I saw that I was on the stage speaking with the audience. As I watched myself, I realised that this wasn’t a vision it was a memory of a couple of years ago, when I had done something rather audacious…

Chris Howard – life coach

It had been in London and I was attending a Chris Howard – Break through to Success event with around 1000 people.  Being a bit mad and really wanting to speak in front a large audience, at one point, I plucked up the courage and made my way to the front of the audience and asked Chris whether I could do a five minute talk. To my shock he said yes and so I stood a bit shakily and did an impromptu talk.

This was what I was seeing in my minds eye as I meditated and was about to shake it clear when a thought occurred to me. Perhaps it wasn’t literally knights that I was to enter into a tournament with. What if it was other speakers? What if by tournament it meant a speaking gig with other authors? Surely that would make sense given the flavour of this quest I was on?

I broke of  my meditation in excitement to ask the dowsing rods and with a resounding spin they confirmed it. Wow! I pondered this new assignment with wonder and a sense of how the heck am I going to do that feeling? Still as you know this quest seems to create opportunities as I walk it.

With this revelation I thought I was done and was walking back through the site towards the car when a feeling came to me. I wasn’t done. I walked back to the spot I had just vacated and sat down. Within moments my thoughts had cleared and I was thinking of nothing.

During the Summer Solstice I had met up with Gwas in Glastonbury and done some work at the Abbey there. In that meditation I was given to understand that there was plenty of time for things to be done. Now, apparently I was getting the feeling of Tempus Fugit time was passing and I was getting behind.

Behind in what? I didn’t know, all I felt was that if I didn’t hurry I would have to take a trip around the spiral again and that is a boring prospect. I asked whether I could dowse as to what key I needed to be moving on, but alas that answer was not available. Why??? As you know, you can’t ask a why with dowsing rods. An inkling did arise though. Ask the Tarot cards…

I’ll leave that for another post I think, thanks for your company along this quest.

I was wondering whether we’d hear of you donning a suit of shining armour, finding an able steed, and a long lance to match, amongst chequered pavilions and maidens with tall hats and fine-flowing handkerchiefs …
Good to know ‘tournament’ has the modern meaning as a series of games played competitively also; the questing seems keep up with our times (most of the time).
    🙂

      Thanks Whytefox,

Yes, although I did let the quest slide somewhat – this weekend (post coming up) Gwas and I were out in South Wales and I was fortunate enough to gain some more wisdom with regards to my Knights Quest.

Look forward to sharing it with you,

      Kal Malik Knight Errant
