This post is a long story. Sit back, get your reading head on, grab a biscuit and a cup of tea. It’s the story of an issue that arose a year or so ago, and which took about that long to get to grips with. The story tells of how dowsing was able to reveal a great deal of information about a house and its energies, and more importantly, my first and seconds attempts to rid a cosy suburban house of its troublesome visitor that was disturbing the residents. I have changed the names to maintain confidentiality, but with his permission, here’s Jim’s tale.
I recently had the pleasure of dowsing my friend Jim’s house in order to see whether the house had any energetic problems that needed to be resolved. Jim lives with his wife and two kids in a beautiful suburban house, typical for our area, in a large village not far from where I live. Jim and I have become friends through our mutual interest in fitness training. Over the course of our regular meetings Jim has been my confidante for stories about my progress in druidry, and the other esoteric and occult arts that I study. Despite how they must have sounded to the layman, Jim was always very kind and his criticism was measured and probing, rather than an onslaught of derision. This had always left me well-disposed to him, so when he finally called me in to help I was there as soon as I could be. But it took some time to get to that point! Let me explain.
The Rise and Fall of Jim’s Path
Jim began to follow and research his own spiritual path last year after opening up and telling me about his strange tales of intuition, coincidences and ghostly encounters. He began to work with dowsing rods himself, to come out on some of my excursions, and to work with crystals, even to the stage where he was beginning to tell me things that I didn’t know. Being very intelligent Jim was a fast learner. So I began to feel that something was wrong when his interest in this work began to wane rapidly. I questioned him about this many times but was always given the same responses: the kids were ill, he was tired, he was ill, he got distracted, something else came up. Suddenly, after being so dedicated to seeking out his spiritual course for himself and updating me regularly, he was becoming listless, drained and distractible. He couldn’t maintain his focus on making progress, he had no energy to do anything, even his beloved fitness training was taking a heavy knock back with long periods of dis-interest and a falling back into some of his more unhealthy habits of old. Yet, Jim continued to express an keen interest in starting up again, just as soon as….well, it never happened.
I began to talk to Jim about what could be causing this falling away, this lack of focus and intent. Had there been something going on around him recently that might be linked to it? He was cagey, but after some gentle persuasion and in complete confidence he began to tell me about some of the strange things that had been happening to him and his family in their house. Knocking upstairs. Feelings of a presence in one room. Voices upstairs when no-one was there. His young son Liam was unable to sleep properly being unable to settle down to sleep, and then waking up in the dead of night. Jim had begun his own investigations with dowsing rods and had felt that there was something in his son’s room, but he didn’t know what it was. He seemed like a man who needed help, so I offered to come and investigate. I warned him that if this “something” was not benevolent then it might try to distract him from doing anything about it, so he had better try to set a date for me to come around and at least test the waters, check the house, and see what was going on.
Over the course of the next year I watched with a kind of knowing, then with a growing concern, and finally in almost desperation as Jim became more frequently ill and lacklustre. Our beloved training sessions that we had maintained for several years began to become sporadic. Jim seemed to need to take more holidays than he used to – he used to be one of those people who was always in work. Now he took every opportunity to rest, but always seemed to come back as tired as he had left. I kept imploring him to let me do an investigation – until eventually he agreed to let me do something remotely. Not my preference, but certainly better than nothing, I believed.
Remote viewing
I did the remote dowse asking Jim to open up the protection he had on his house (not much good if you have sealed something in, though!) and I took a cursory dowse around his house from my strongly-protected haven at home. Dowsing from home is never my preference – there are too many distractions, and until recently the energies have never been right to get very good results. Nevertheless, I was able to inform Jim that I agreed with him. I had found a presence, a dark spot that was able to move around the room, and it was not well-intentioned. It seemed to be fixated upon his son for some reason that I felt was linked in some way to Jim’s wife’s side of the family – maybe to Jim’s wife herself. Let’s call her Janet.
I reported back to Jim about my findings and left him to ponder them. He pondered them for several weeks. I advised him that he ought to do his own investigations to try to reveal more about the dark energy form. Was it the source of his lethargy? Was it linked to his wife’s family? Was he in danger? I knew that Jim had the skills to find these things out for himself. I said I would be ready to come on site and do a more thorough investigation if he wanted that, and to try to eradicate the dark form, or re-balance any imbalanced energies, pretty much whenever he gave me the go-ahead. We tried to make that happen for over nine months!
Finally, this last weekend, he seemed to gather up enough energy to make our appointment happen, and he made arrangements for the house to be clear for me to work. I breathed a huge sigh of relief. At last, I was going to be able to see whether my remote dowsing had in any way been right, and whether I would be able to resolve this long-standing energy problem directly at the source. How exciting!
Redecoration and renewal
Firstly, I need to say that before I began dowsing directly at Jim’s house I asked him not to tell me anything about his personal circumstances, or give me any details to the dowsing. In fact, I asked him to remain aloof from the whole process because I was aware that even his state of mind in relation to the process of investigation might have an influence on my findings. Jim remained in his study during the whole process. At the end we conferred and he filled in he details of the results that I presented to him.
I approached the house along the drive and noticed that Jim had left the door open for me. The house had obviously undergone some work since I was last there because I had a momentary doubt about whether I was at the right place, made worse by the fact I didn’t recognise the car. I wasn’t going to walk straight in. In my mind I had Kal’s recent post about Thresholds so I wasn’t about to transgress one – I needed to be invited in before I could begin to work. I needed permission to enter explicitly, so I called out and range the bell until the door was answered personally. That was difficult to explain, but it needed to be done, I felt.
There seems to be something about the process of re-decoration that makes people feel quite re-energised, especially if they lighten a home, or if they simple psychologically feel that their home is ‘freshened up’. This seems to have been the trigger that let Jim finally allow the house cleansing process to begin. He had recently re-decorated most of the house, and the house was far brighter than I remember from previous visits. A good sign, I felt.
Setting the Scene
I sat with Jim for a few minutes, settling into his house, feeling the vibes, letting him show me around the rooms downstairs, admiring his handiwork and drinking his coffee (I had forgotten my own fruit tea bags). As we chatted I began to set the scene for what I would be doing. I told him I would firstly dowse around the house for trouble spots and good places to be, then I would see what needed to be done to repair any problem areas. Before I did anything else, though, I needed to establish a base – a neutral zone, a protected spot, a sanctuary space that i could run to if it all got hairy.
I began to dowse around and was led outside, around the side of the house and into the back garden. The rods brought me around in a circle to end up spinning and crossing at a small enclave in the side of a bush. It was a clear and obvious power centre, but I confirmed this with the rods. Yes, it was beneficial to me, but not to anyone else in the house. Well, that seemed perfect! I set up my protective crystal set and put up some energetic boundaries and shells around the spot to prevent any energetic intrusion. Standing inside the power centre I cleared my thoughts, my preconceptions, and stilled my mind. Then I drew from the living tree and plant energies in the back garden and felt ready for action, so I returned back the way I had come and began to investigate the house itself.
The good guys and the bad guys – power centres
I wanted to start positively so I asked firstly whether there were any helpful power centres in the house. There were three. Good! The strongest one was at the “unused” end of a couch and this positive power centre had a +6 rating. Reasonable, but not great. I began to search for the two other power centres and found that they were very close by. In fact, they were almost next to me because they were where I had sat when chatting to Jim earlier, and where my bag containing crystals and incense was. In other words, apart from this natural geological positive power centre the only positive force in the house was ME!
The strongest negative power centre I found had a rating of -9. I could feel the spiral with my hands. The flow came off one of the pillows on the bed of Jim and his wife. As a means of verification I dowsed for which side people slept on. Jim slept in the negative vortex, whilst his wife slept on the other side. Had this always been the case? I dowsed for who had originated the spiral – it had been his wife’s energy, so I reasoned that she must have slept on that side before Jim did and maybe they had swapped at some time.
I asked if the negative swirl was linked to any other power centre and was taken into the adjacent room via a quick spiral round the landing. Seemed like the landing, the space between the rooms at the top of the stairs, was a roundabout – a sort of central junction through which all the negative energy was flowing, or was anchored. I would look at that in a moment. First, the second negative spiral in the other bedroom.
Judging from the decor I could tell that this room was Jim’s daughter’s room. Ponies and princesses kind of give that impression! The dowsing rods turned round over the pillow at the head of the bed again. How strong was this negative energy? -5 on our relative scale. Irksome, but not too concerning. There was a link, therefore, between the mother and the daughter. An energetic link of some kind. I wondered if the negative spiral had always been in this position, so I called on Jim to validate this. He said that they had recently moved the furniture around. OK, well I dowsed for the original position of the spiral before the bed had been moved – it was in a different corner of the room. Jim could only shrug and say, “That’s where the bed used to be, yeah.”
I dowsed that the energy from these linked negative power centres was old, going back a couple of years. It had been formed by his wife in May 2009. It was linked to their daughter’s bed for some reason that neither Jim nor I could work out. There was often tension between the two, but not outright hostility. The cause was a puzzle, but the remedy was simple, I felt, providing that the cause no longer existed.
The Influence of Effluence
I looked for the last remaining troublesome power centre and found it on the landing at the top of the stairs. This seemed to be a vertical column of spiralling bad energy coming up from below and going through the house. I went to find the source and located it was being in a small room that linked the old house with the new extensions. When I asked Jim about this spot I had found he told me that it was where an underground sewerage pipe flowed. I did more dowsing and informed him that I thought there was a crack in the pipe caused by subsidence of the house, and that if he found any physical evidence of this (a bad smell or damp, or cracks in the structure at this point) then he would know what the cause was, and how to remedy it. For now, I didn’t want him digging up his house on my say-so!
It was time to take a closer look at the “thing” that I had remotely dowsed several months earlier. Well, many months earlier. Was it still here? Was it still a problem? Time to get to grips with the tricky stuff, I concluded.
The Unwelcome Guest
In my previous remote dowsing of Jim’s house I had picked up some information about the unwelcome entity that was inhabiting one of the rooms upstairs. I knew that it was capable of moving around the room, and that it was disturbing the sleep of Jim’s young son as it passed through him as he slept. I also had picked up that the ‘guest’ was in some way related to the family, although the exact nature of the link was not clear to me. It seemed to be related to Jim’s wife somehow, but I couldn’t dowse for any living or dead link – which I thought was odd.
Now that I was actually in the house I wanted to see whether this entity was still here, and if so whether I could pick up some better information about it. I stood on the landing and asked the dowsing rods to tell me whether there was any energetic sentient entity within the house. There was. OK, please take me to the current location of the entity….the rods swung off to point towards the young boy’s room and within moments I was standing at the foot of the boy’s bed as the rods swung around into a tight circle.
I began to question the rods about the entity’s movements – where did it travel to and from? I knew where it was now, and what time of day it was, so I began to plot the position of the entity every hour of the day until I had a complete day’s cycle of movements plotted. The entity began the day just outside the window at daybreak. Then it come in the corner of the window in the morning to stand at the foot of the bed by mid-morning. As the day progressed it moved across the boy’s bed until it was at the head of the bed by the time the boy would be doing to bed – say around 6-7pm. In the evening it was in the doorway, then it turned around and made its way back towards the window, brushing alongside the bed again at around 2-3am.
This all seemed to make sense. The disturbance of the boy’s sleep was in keeping with the path of the entity – he was difficult to put down to sleep (6-7pm) and then would re-awaken at 2-3am causing the parents to have to come in and calm him. This was becoming a regular pattern, although I’m sure this is a pattern that is repeated in many households up and down the land. In that respect the parents had put the sleep disturbance down to normal factors. In this instance I think it wasn’t “normal”, but rather as a result of this entity’s wanderings.
Now to gather some information about the intentions of the entity. Was it aware that it was disturbing the boy? YES. Was this deliberate? YES. Was there a family connection between the entity and this inhabitant family? YES. Did the entity has evil intent? NO. Did the entity mean to cause harm? NO. Is it trying to communicate with the inhabitants? YES.
I turned my attention to questions about its removal. When I had tried to remove it before remotely, had this been successful? YES (but not a convincing swing of the rods, indicating only a partial success). Is it beneficial to the family for me to rid them of this entity? YES. Is there a non-harmful method that I can use to prevent the entity from disturbing the family? YES. Do I have that means with me today? YES. I got my bag from the hall downstairs and put one of each item I had – incense, crystals, candles on the boy’s bed. Which if these items can be used to rid the family of this entity? The rods crossed over the large pink quartz crystal. So, now I only had to determine the way to use this crystal.
I asked the rods to show me where the crystal should be placed in order to do the job I needed it to do. I was taken to the window, at the point where the entity came in. I placed the crystal on the window sill where it began to catch the shaft of sunlight that has opened up in the clouds as though seemingly for this purpose. How long should I leave the crystal in place to be effective against this entity – can it be measured in minutes? YES. Is it less than an hour? YES! I worked my way down to 15 minutes, and was surprised at the short timespan. Oh well, not for me to judge, I told myself.
The resolution
In the past I had blasted this entity from afar with an energy bomb. Now I was blocking its entrance with a crystal. It seemed a much kinder approach to a quite insistent and re-appearing energy form. I wondered again about the relationship with the family. I knew that it was somehow related but couldn’t find the relationship. I knew it wanted to make its presence known to the family, and that it might have some information for them, but I had no idea how to extract that information. I had left that job to Jim to do, but his apathy had meant that the task never got done. I knew that trying to dowse for such an answer could take hours or days to hit upon the right combination or topic that would lead to an answer. Better, I thought, that I just blocked the entity from coming in, and if it re-appeared then I would have to make some deeper enquiries. The priority now was to restore Jim to fighting fitness, remove the negative links and spirals, and to clear the house of problems.
I didn’t want to lose focus. There was work to be done and time was pressing. I had been given an hour in the house without Jim’s wife and kids and I was keen to press on while I had the space and the quiet to work. Besides, there was the spiral on the landing to resolve yet, and the -9 negative spiral on the bed to resolve. Best crack on and get it done!
On the landing at the top of the stairs I knew I needed my healing crystals. This set includes a lot of turquoise and some clear quartz. I placed a clear quartz in the centre of the landing and then four turquoise crystals were placed in a quadrant around it. All of this was individually dowsed, but when I looked at the end result I saw the pattern emerge. I linked this pattern to the spiral in the main bedroom. On the main bed I placed the remaining crystals from my healing set (more turquoise, some tiger’s eye, and others) and then ensured that the two crystals sets were linked by my intention. In my mind I drew a line between the two – a flowing curving line of energy.
I left the crystals to do their work. I dowsed that they would need 20 minutes to be effective. In that time I spoke with Jim about the work, lit some incense around the house at various locations, and then took him out into the back garden where we alternately went to stand in the garden’s power centre to cleanse and re-charge again. I hoped this would clear any unwanted energies away, and ensure that we had not brought anything unwanted attached to us.
As we re-charged the rest of the family returned and the kids began to take over the house again, as kids do. We chatted for a while and then I went around upstairs to reclaim the crystals and snuff out the incense. My work here was done, I felt. I said my goodbyes and waited for Jim to get back off his holiday to tell me the result of the clearance work. Would he be able to shake off his apathy? Would he get back on track? Would he re-start his own crystal and dowsing work? I would have to wait to see.
Feedback since this work
I have seen Jim since I worked on his house and he looks and sounds a whole deal more positive. That’s just my subjective opinion, however. He has reported that he has been dowsing again, and has been sleeping so soundly that he is waking up groggy. All good news. He seems much happier at the moment, but that could be my subjective impression. His own dowsing has revealed to him that the visitor will return again in a couple of months! This episode was not an end to this story then, there seems more work to be done here. I am keen to understand why this entity is repeatedly returning to visit this house given the attempts to repel it. It seems like my next story about this subject will be more detail on this entity and its motivations.
Since working at the house Jim has told me that he has managed to link the power centre in the back garden into the house’s energies and has begun to attract in more positive energy. Even weeks ago his confidence levels were at such a low ebb that this was not something he would have attempted due to his increasing apathy. Now, here he was, doing his OWN energy work on his house. All it took was me to “level the playing field” so that he could get started with it.
For now, this has been Jim’s story.
