In an article I wrote that is posted on this site I once explained how the beginning of process of awakening to a magical mindset is to notice synchronicity. In other words, if you want to train your brain to become aware and awake to the magical processes and interconnectedness in your surroundings then you can begin by taking notice of the odd little synchronous events that occur in your life.
Well, here I am many years later and that advice has been proven to be useful time and time again. Talking of “time”, that brings me to the subject of this post, and the subject is actually a question too because I don’t yet have an answer, but someone out there in the blogosphere may be able to help. Let me explain what’s been happening.
It started a few months ago. My wife and my bother’s wife got together with the aid of a couple of bottles of wine. Now, usually I sit back and watch the fun. The two of them are very “in sync” with each other and they have a riot when they get together. This time, however, they said and did something quite startling. The time was eleven minutes past eleven in the evening. As one, they turned to each other and said at the same time: “Oh, it’s 11:11“. They looked at each other with mouths wide open. What followed was the realisation that they were both noticing “11:11” on a regular basis for the past few weeks. No other times, just these two occurrences during the day. They were ‘spooked’ by it, but it amused me, and I thought no more about it.
Since that incident I have also begun to notice time syncs. It began with 11:11, curiously enough. I spotted it one time and then thought to myself, “How curious – that’s the time that M was noticing too.” Since then, things began to get a bit strange. I began to see time syncs of all sorts “23:23”. “06:06”, the lot. It has been building over the last few weeks to a ridiculous level. At one stage I was seeing the time sync almost EVERY HOUR. Almost.

I began experimenting. If I WANTED to catch a sync I couldn’t. I would always miss it by one or two minutes. Without exception. That’s if I tried to calculate when it would happen by checking the time perhaps ten minutes before and then trying to estimate when I should next look at the clock. Always got it wrong. However, if I inadvertently looked at the clock – “14:14”, “17:17”, “20:20”. Mad.
What does this mean? I wonder if it was a build up of psychic energy generally. It increased to a crescendo up until the Spring Equinox, and now it has completely trailed off. I’m not getting syncs any more at all since I went out for the Spring Equinox. What form of Otherworldly communication is this? Has anyone else experienced this? Have you found out what it means?
Perhaps this is the answer: Energy influx at Spring Equinox
I’m puzzled.

It is great to recognize that the 11:11 phenomenon effects many lives. I first noted the phenomena during college, especially on November 11th, at 11:11. My roommate and I would note the sync of time. Since then we find ourselves noting the time sync routinely when we get together. I do think that it is part of the process of awakening the magical mindset, for not all will note the synchronization of that time. For me it is throughout the winter months, it’s uncanny that I don’t seem to miss noting that specific time.
I like your reasoning that it is a build up of psychic energy, … possibly looking towards the oncoming spring weather that the equinox brings.
I note the time sync awareness is usually during times of heightened energy or and I will notice 11:11 more frequently.
It illuminates and reminds me to slow down and take the Time to notice the “now” and to be open to it’s magic.

Hi Dryw,
I like your tale about noticing syncs when you’re with another person. It’s like you developed this connection together, and now that thread always links you. Fascinating. Much of my thinking about energy has turned into thinking about connectivity, threads and links like this, so I’m deeply interested in that idea that you created an energetic connection through a shared realisation of a magical process.
We should dare more to discuss such subjects in terms of their magical content. When we cleave away the rational aspects then the remainder should continue to fascinate and amuse us. It’s what makes life intruiging!

Hi Gwas
The 11.11 phenomenon has been around a while. I first read about it in Uri (love him or loathe him) Geller’s column in one of those little magazines full of ghost/angel/spirit stories – which I read purely for research of course! 🙂 Every issue he mentions what his ‘flash mob’ can concentrate on at 11.11 that week, ie World Peace. When I’m at work you can guarantee I’ll look at the clock on the PC at exactly 11.11 four days out of five. I usually mutter ‘I’m with you Uri’ as an acknowledgement.
I wonder whether I have trained my subconscious to look at the clock then. It does do quite a good job of waking me up, if I think about when I need to get up the night before. We had quite good fun in the Office when it was 12.12.12. My colleague was getting very excited about the beauty of mathematical symmetry of the date and then we got 12.12’s all over the place, it was almost infectious.
I think these effects naturally wear off after time. I love it when they happen, because I take any kind of synchronicity to mean either: everything in my little bit of the universe is ticking along nicely, which is a great feeling; or else that I’m being asked to think carefully about what keeps occuring, which can be helpful and illuminating.

Hi Stoatie,
Good comment! I could never make my mind up about Geller. Initially I was amazed, then in my teens I believed all the debunkers. Now as I get older I think he may have been a victom of his own ego, but perhaps he did have some amazing talents after all. Not having spent time with him, it’s difficult to know for sure. I’m only an observer on the outside watching his representation of himself.
I take your point about subliminal training of the brain to home in on certain times. I think there’s a certain element of that, yet there’s also something else going on. It’s the same thing as is happening in the training of the brain to work with magical forces. During that process one is also questioning onself about whether “this is true” or “did I make that up?” It’s right and proper to question how much out own wishes are imposed on the magical process, yet we also have to distinguish and acknowledge the moments when we simply could not have known by any means at all and yet the coincidence happens. How can we surprise ourselves? What part of the brain is it that is capable of doing that? How “subconscious” are we anyway?
Of course it’s difficult to make such a distinction when it comes to time. Time is an arbitrary human invention related to astrological movements, and as you say, we can ask ourselves to wake up at a specific moment and regularly achieve this. But what is actually going on when we do that? Is it “brain training”? Is the brain really counting the seconds between start and end time? No astroligcal markers when we’re asleep. No other stimuli assisting the process in this situation.
Is something more magical happening, which could lead us into a whole different appreciation of what we are asking of ourselves and the world when we do “tricks” like that?
Fun to think about,
Gwas.
