Faery Path
Faery Path

Leaving the Hurlers in the mists we drove on to what would be our centre point for the Summer Solstice of 2013, Penzance. We arrived in short order and immediately left the town to go to the first sacred site of many and what a beautiful place it was.

A path of wild flowers

Boscawen-Un is its name and I have no idea what it means. However the path that leads to this sacred grove is one filled with wild-flowers and a sense of faery. Before we had set out on this trip the weather guys over at the BBC (shame on you) had promised, rain, wind and overcast. We had experienced none of this and as we walked along about half a mile of a floral path we laughed as the sun shone upon us. We marvelled at the beauty of the path and were bountiful with our gratefulness of such experiences in our lives.

The peaceful circle

Certainly, this sacred grove had the most beautiful path to it. As I entered the site, I felt a deep sense of peace, of letting go, of forgetting. Here, I felt, one could truly learn to let go of the other world, if, of course, one wanted to. I wandered around the grove enjoying the sensation of peace and forgetfulness. It seemed that time wasn’t going to have its sway here. Definitely a place of faery I though as I mused against one rock then another. When we had arrived at the place there had been two other groups of people there. Some were artists it seemed since they were sketching another was a couple enjoying the weather and the peace. What I found odd, in self-observation, was that I wasn’t as gregarious as I normally am. In another place I would have conversed with the other visitors and asked of their experience and purpose. In this place, the feeling to do so was dampened. So I just, experienced.

Learning how to capture the solstice energy

Peaceful slumber. I sat with my back to a stone and my face to the sun. I can see how one could get caught in faery traps. As I lay there, for the second time on this journey, Caileach popped into my consciousness. “Capture the Solstice Energy” she said, and vanished. No instruction as to how I was supposed to do this and what it meant. Just those words. Typical! So, now as I lay there I was disturbed by the thought of – how am I supposed to do that?Fortune was with me it seemed as a few minutes later, my double arose to the surface of consciousness and showed me. As I lay there the sun beat upon the front of my body. My double took that energy into my body and through the stone and then down into the ground. There I saw channels of energy going out to each sacred stone. The suns energy that flooded into me and then out again, flowed to all of the stones, touched them and then reversed back into me. This it seems was the way to capture the energy of the solstice. Why and to what purpose I would learn later. For now, our time at this faery glen was done.
