Samhain Pilgrimage 4: An old friend at the Chalice Wells

Incense, Ritual, Trees

This had to be at the top of the places that I wanted to take my friend Julie. One cannot help but fall in love with the garden of peace in Glastonbury known as the Chalice Wells. Yes, the Tor has fabulous energy, yes the Abbey is intriguing, Yes there is a nice tree on a hill. But the Chalice Wells has to be the heart of Glastonbury.

An old friend, missed
An old friend, missed

With a sigh of letting go of the outer world, we ambled into the inner. Back a couple of years ago there was a beautiful tree that befriended me when I first visited the garden. Sadly it has passed away, but the dowsing rods took me, by the most direct route, to where that tree had lived. I sat upon the ground, now as then and remembered the feelings.

Reluctantly I rose and followed the rods to wherever they wished. They took me some levels back and to the brother of the tree you see above. I paid my respects there by lighting some incense and moved throughout the garden, touching leaf and caressing root.

Finally, I arrived at the place where the water falls. Drinking my fill, I lit another stick of incense. As I did the sun came out in recognition. A beautiful sign in an amazing place.
