I wasn’t sure about posting this one. It’s quite a specific topic, and I’m not sure how relevant it will be for anyone out there. Nevertheless, in the spirit of sharing, maybe it would be useful for someone who is dealing with the angelic end of the entity spectrum, and they want to consider using a crystal layout in order to focus intention when dealing with them. OK, I know – that’s an audience of one, right? Here’s the story.
You may remember that we were at Dinas Bran because the weather was so nice. Well, it was a bit cooler and windier on top, I can tell you. Nevertheless, I was sitting in the sun and having obtained by quest for the next part of the year’s turning I was quite pleased. Having such a good connection with Bran I wondered if there was anything else I could get him involved in. I had brought a set of five crystals with the intention of creating a set which I could use to interface with the recently-encountered elemental angels (see this link for the tag of those encounters).

I asked Bran if I could create the crystal set, and he told me that I could use any crystals to do this. It was not something that was part of my spiritual development (it is not necessary for me to do it) but that if it would help me to focus, then I could do it. As I wanted to do it, I would use the five crystals I had with me. I now dowsed to see which of the stones would be most suitable for which of the elemental angels. Tough luck on the last one, I guess! It was stuck with whatever was left!
I found that they worked out like this:-
- the green stone is for the air angel
- the brown stone is for the earth angel
- the rose stone for the fire angel
- the purple stone for the water angel
Each of these was placed in the appropriate cardinal position, in accordance with my own established preference. The intention now was to create an association between the stones. I dowsed that the only association that could be made here at Dinas Bran would be between the green stone and the air elemental angel.

On the way down we admired the incredible sky and considered how lucky we are to have such places within our reach on a Spring evening. Places of power, antiquity and reverberating with subtle energies. Places positioned in the midst of such a beautiful landscape. Pictures don’t do justice to the beauty that our senses breathe in, but which photographs only partially reflect.
The silly thing is, even though Dinas Bran could have been used to have created the association between the air angel and the green stone, I actually forgot to do this work! I was so interested in the formation and their cardinal elemental assignments that I actually forgot to perform the association. Maybe a sign that it’s not worth doing? Maybe I’ll try again at another suitable site when one is visited, and when I have the set with me.
Sometimes even an experienced druid makes a juvenile schoolboy mistake.

What I think is interesting about this is that the ritual is an expression of intention. The intention is not subject to any single ritual – there are many methods depending on personality, preferred mediums and point of development. Worth remembering not to get hung up on following a ritual to the nth with the consequent fear of getting it wrong.
I always think that in horror movies where there’s an exorcism with a priest holding a cross outstretched and the ‘whatever it is’ destroys it. (I know that isn’t how it works), but I think – that cross should be on the inside and then that wouldn’t happen.
Rambling now, I know.
Blessings of Beltane
Ha ha – I know what you mean about ht ecorcism thing. I read the books “The Green Stone” and “The Eye of Fire” in which a group of psychics encounter dark forces, and you just come away thinking – well, why didn’t you just do this, that or the other? Basic stuff! Still, it would be less entertaining if people were competent or clever, right? [See my gaff int his post for an example]
“Ritual is an expression of intention”. – great phrase. Cannot be stated somre simply than that, and a good point to retain! Even when freezing your nethers off on a windy hilltop in early spring.
I really enjoyed this post too and would be very happy to know more about this subject! Thanks.
“More”? More of what? What would you like to know more of? What more is there to know? 😉
This is an interesting post for me as I like crystals. Thanks.
I like crystals too – some are shiny, some are pointy, and some are smooth and cuddly. What’s not to like?
