An unexpected journey to the Ancient Yew

Quests, Signs and Synchronicity

It is surprising the number of synchronicities that crop up on Facebook. The tale goes something like this…I had just finished a workshop in Manchester and had posted a note on my wall to its success. A comment from a FB friend (let’s call her G) announced that she was in Manchester and could she attend. I replied that alas it had finished but should G wish to have a coffee and cake, I was still around.

So we met for the first time for coffee and had a whale of a time. That evening a post appeared on another friends wall telling of 10 of the oldest trees in the world. Of course our own Ancient Yew is on that list and I remarked that this beautiful specimen was only an hours drive from where I lived. Some time later G added a comment to say that she would really like to visit this tree. So I asked to go with her and a couple of days later we set off for the Yew.

As always, Ancient Yew was inspiring. I didn’t have any questions in my bag to pose to the tree so I enjoyed myself by just basking in its presence and being happy to introduce another soul to this marvelous teacher. My friend G was delighted with the tree and spent much time in commune with it.

The Yew tree is in a church yard next to a pub and we decided to stop in there for a coffee. We actually ended up spending a good hour and more in there discussing all sorts of topics. At one point my visit to Mitchells Fold the night before came up and I mentioned my potential upcoming Castle Tour. I told G that my first port of call had to be Tintagel. G nearly choked and spluttered that that was a place that she had always wanted to go.

That G knew the name was a bit of a surprise but that she wanted to visit it was a bigger surprise to me. Surely a coincidence. Our conversation took a versatile turn here and there and then came across another coinciding juncture when I mentioned that I would be stopping off at Glastonbury on my way South-West. This was another place that G had on her wish-list.

Yes, it did dawn on me that this could be a sign. But I wasn’t about to say anything until I had energetic verification. Also, I thought “so what”? After all, from a person who was into spiritual stuff, Glastonbury wasn’t a stretch at all and Tintagel was only a slight stretch wasn’t it.

If it wasn’t for the final piece of the day…as our conversation concluded, G asked what kind of time frame was I looking to do my journey. I replied that I didn’t know at the moment, To which she replied that if I would consider a journey within the next week or two, she might be able to come along (not that I had actually invited G as yet).

Note that at Mitchells Fold I was told that I had some small but major quest coming up and that I would find out about it before my birthday and have to complete it very soon after. Could this be that?
