A half hour’s drive from my previous site visit I was into the depths of Oxfordshire, and heading toward a site that I had only visited a couple of times before – The Devil’s Quoits near to the village of Stanton Harcourt. This was to be my final destination for the Autumn Equinox tour, and it felt like a fitting end.
There are so many things going against this site which ought to mean that it is effectively “rubbished” from a modern druid’s perspective. The site sits at the end of a lane where there are a series of recycling and associated businesses. In the background there is almost always the noise and occasional whiff of rubbish being processed. It is also a reconstructed stone circle, but the way they have rebuilt it means that it is still filled with a wondrous energy.

As had been the way of things on this auspicious day there was a crow waiting for me at entrance to the site. I paused to observe it. It looked at me with a beady eye, as though assessing how I was going to approach the site, and whether I had noticed that it was another similar sign. In my mind I associate crows with the spirit of Kal, so it was another comforting aspect of the day’s work. He had been following me to all of the new sites today.
I got out my dowsing rods. Let’s see where I needed to go to prepare. This was a BIG circle and the spot could be anywhere. It set off, and was taken up onto the raised embankment in a clockwise direction. To be prepared I had to walk around the whole embankment! My preparation spot was some green lush grass and clover next to the hawthorn bush by the entrance. Alongside some dog excrement. Nice! However, it’s not unusual to find various animals depositing their “scent” remains at such places. They seem to instinctively recognise such places of power.

After divesting myself of any unnecessary or incompatible energies, and ensuring I had some protection set up around me, and then setting an intention to find somewhere I could do some spiritual work, I went in search of my entrance to the site. I remembered my handy mnemonic: PIES – protection, intention, entrance, spot. My entrance was found by going anti-clockwise next to the ditch until I reached the East entrance. Sheesh – another long trek!
I stopped at the entrance boundary. May I please enter this site to do some work, I asked the spirit of place? A gentle pull from my lower energy centre confirmed I could enter. So, I went in search of my spot – the place where I could do such work.
My spot was the external side of the third stone to the right of the east entrance, in the North East alignment position of the circle. I settled in.

I placed a found feather that I had picked up on my perambulations around the perimeter, and held my smoky quartz crystal. Once in a suitable meditative state I asked what I needed. I was told to call a spirit guide. Unexpected, but so be it….

I asked Nature to provide me with communication with a suitable spirit guide, should one wish to take on this renascent druid. One appeared. A form, a name, a feeling descended towards me in a misty cloud of violet flame, and I recognised the name – St Germain.
St Germain and the Violet flame. This was a call-back to 2015 when I had first encountered this spirit. It would seem our work together was not done yet. I was to call him by seeing the violet flame inside me. He will teach me 3 things:-
- the power of the colours of the rainbow
- The secret of true immortality
- how to access the Akashic records
Now, I have some problems with that at the moment. Firstly, with all our work at Runcorn Hill and elsewhere early on in our spiritual “careers”, I thought that Kal and I had learned pretty much everything we needed to know about the rainbow colours. Also, I had also found some healing ray colours, but had not really done anything with that information. Maybe there was more to do there?
My next issue was with the concept of immortality. It reminds me of the Mad Jack’s Tomb incident. Would such work send me as mad as he was? What on earth (or elsewhere) does immortality mean? Was it for me, or was I to challenge the concept relating to others? I didn’t know yet. I knew that St Germain was renowned as someone whose longevity had created a stir in his own time.

Finally, there was another thing. The Akashic Records. It was a concept which I had still got assigned to The Loony Bin. The Loony Bin was a mental box in which all of the paranormal, mystical and other unusual concepts had been assigned when we first started this work. Over the years we had challenged and tested each of these concepts. Many of them, such as UFOs, orbs and ghosts and the like, we had to concede did have some validity. After all, you can’t deny your own experiences! But the Akashic Records was one which I hadn’t anticipated I would have to deal with. Clearly, that fun is to come!
I left some crumbs from my lunch for the fairies by the stone and began packing my things. Seconds later a lurcher dog came bounding over to me and wolfed all of the food before running off again to a dog-walking woman. She apologised profusely for the interruption, but I knew this was my signal to leave.
All in all, it was a fun and intriguing day out in the Oxfordshire sacred landscape. Some new sites had been found, and some old ones had yielded fascinating insights. Let the work recommence!
