Phoenix Rising – the return of the Hedge Druid blog

September 10th 2026

It has been 9 years since my last post on this blog. There have been many reasons for this delay. The easiest explanation is that I lost my inspiration – my great friend Kal Malik – in 2015. Doing anything “spiritual” after that was much more difficult.

So, what has changed to bring this blog back? Well, I have now accustomed myself to my new lifestyle (something I will probably discuss in more detail at some stage), and with that stability has come a renewed interest in working as a druid again.

I think the main trigger for was a call that I got “out of the blue” from someone who was related to someone that Kal and I did an “energetic house clearance” for. I found myself saying to them “Yes, I still do that kind of thing.” even though to myself I was unsure whether I still could. I will also tell that fascinating story soon.

The next stage was my wife noticing a group starting up in my local area – it was a druid group. She strongly encouraged me to go along and see if it was right for me. Turns out, it was the kick start that I needed to return me to all the ideas, skills and motivation to pick up this work again. I will be regularly posting about those activities too, and introducing you to some amazing individuals associated with that group.

One thing, they say, leads to another. Yet, I think something was already re-awakening in me before these obvious moments. The Trickster who is the spirit of Kal had been coming to mind more often, more insistently, and with much stronger memories of the many years we enjoyed each others company. Many of those years are documented in this blog (and I encourage you to go back to the beginning, as I have done recently, and read about our journey together). He may have gone exploring the universe in a dimension and form that I can only dream of, but he seems to have returned long enough to stir old memories and remind me of what I had come to forget: the journeys, the discoveries, the magick.

I am not sure yet whether I will manage anything like the frequency, the depth or the interplay of previous posts, but I now bring a new wisdom to the work, and I hope that bears its own fruits as I re-discover the topics that made this blog such a resource for me and others.

Come with me. Bear with me. As I allow the re-opening of this blog to re-ignite old fires, and hopefully spark your interest too.
