Meetings with Meteorites

Celestial, Crystals, Experiment, Other reports

I have just got back from The Big Smoke (or London to you and me). I am always in two minds about this place. Now that I am accustomed to the natural surroundings of my Cheshire home with its easy access to the countryside (I step out my front or back doors and it’s there) then I find it difficult to immerse myself in the manic frenzy that is London City. However, it is also exciting for a while, and London has all the virtues of being a cultural hotspot, so I always get to see an interesting  museum, gallery, exhibition or performance. On this occasion I was on the South Bank to see Roy Harper at the Royal Festival Hall, ten years after his last gig there. This time he is seventy. A post will be coming soon about this, but in this post I want to talk about an interesting encounter with some alien objects!

M and I took some hours off before the performance to visit the Natural History Museum. As a child I had been around this museum and was stunned and awed by the incredible exhibits – rack and rack f fossils, dinosaur skeletons, trays of rocks, all animal life stuffed and pinned in shelves and display cabinets in room after room until the eye couldn’t take any more. Now, as an adult, I wanted to go back to look at the collection of meteors that the museum held. I was interested to see how I would react now that I had developed my sensitivity to energy.

London’s Natural History Museum

Most major London museums are now free, which is a saving grace. However, there have been some changes made to the museum since I was last there. It’s gone all “kiddy”. Gone are the long racks of beautifully laid out exhibits (boooooring!) and now we have “interactive” exhibits (exciiiiting). Far less of the “show” and much more of the “tell”. I hated it. I hated every second of it. I couldn’t wait to find a safe haven from all the knobs, dials and wheels, the illuminated plastic displays, the childish “learn by picture” storyboarding and the sanctimonious tone of the whole series of sordid scenes supplanting the serious collections. Oh yes, it seems to say, you WILL become an eco-friendly, planet-saving, animal-hugging, rainforest-conscious, water-wary citizen of the world. You WILL! You MUST! Or you are evil and you kill fluffy animals.

I ran for the Rocks and Minerals department. Surely they couldn’t have ruined the rocks? Luckily, they hadn’t. The rocks were still in glass display cases, lined up in rows as far as the eye could see. Wonderful! Museums “old skool”. Not a flashing bulb or laser experience in sight. No questions to answer. No moral to absorb. Now to find the meteors that I had heard were here.

The Rocks and Gems Gallery of the Natural History Museum

After an hour of pointing at the lovely coloured stones we made it to the back of the hall. Here, along the back wall, the curators had created a beautiful display case to highlight the rocks that were not from our planet. These were the meteorites and the moon rocks. I switched on my “Spider Senses” to see what would happen. M was next to me as we took it in turns to look at each exhibit. I wasn’t really interested in the explanations of the meteors, and instead I photographed the displays for reference then moved in closer to feel the effects of each stone in turn. The result was astonishing for both of us!

The Feeling of Incompatible Energy

How can I describe the feeling that I got when approaching these glass cases with their alien cargo? It was a similar feeling that I get when I go to a sacred site whose energetic field has become unbalanced. I think that’s the most diplomatic way I can describe it. If you are someone who goes around sacred sites often, and you are energetically of psychically sensitive then you will probably have a good understanding of the feeling that I am talking about – whether natural or man-made.

The feeling hits you in two ways – psychically and psychically. Physically, you get several symptoms:

  • a feeling of pressure on your upper abdomen area, as though something invisible is pushing against it
  • a slight discomfort in the abdomen, like you’ve just ate too much food and it wants to come out again soon
  • you begin to develop a “nervous” stomach – like the ‘butterflies’ you get before a performance
  • tightness in the temples, and a feeling that you might get a headache if you continue to stand in the area of influence of the inharmonious energy
Mentally, the feeling has these qualities:
  • something inside you knows this is not good for you, and may trigger your “fight or flight” response, releasing adrenalin and increasing your heart rate
  • you can’t think straight inside the field, and your decision-making abilities are affected such that you don’t quite know how to react to the situation appropriately

This is most definitely an effect with a distinct radius. You can move out of range of the influence of this energy and the physical and mental effects simply stop immediately. At their outer edges they are less strong than close to the source of the energy field, but the area of slight impact is quite small, such that you can almost step into and out of the field with a single stride to compare the feelings within the field and outside of it.

Another sickening meteor in the NHM

So, having experienced this effect very strongly in the vicinity of meteors, the question arises as to what specifically the meteorites may be giving off in terms of radiation or energetic output that might be incompatible with my body’s own energy field? Is it the same energy as is found at sacred sites when energies have become ‘disrupted’ and imbalanced? Or is it some other energy source whose effects are startlingly similar? I noticed that not all the meteorites had this effect. Most of them did, but the occasional one did not. I began to do some research….

What is a meteorite?

Firstly, let’s distinguish between “meteor” and “meteorite”. A meteor is the object hurtling through space. A meteorite is the debris that remains once it crashes onto our planet. It seems there are three major classifications of meteorite:

  • iron – consist mainly of iron-nickel metal with small amounts of sulphide and carbide minerals
  • stony-iron – consist of almost equal amounts of iron-nickel metal and silicate minerals
  • stony – consisting mainly of silicate minerals

Here’s a link to the full classification list for those who are particularly interested in this topic.

So, which ones did I react most strongly to? The strongest reaction was to the pure metallic type. Oddly, against expectation, the next strongest reaction was to the stony kind. The meteorites that were a mixture of the two types (stony-iron) produced the least reaction. I don’t know why. What was I reacting to, exactly? Radioactivity, perhaps?

We turn to the Natural History Museum’s FAQ about meteorites for an understanding of the levels of radioactivity in these meteorites:

“Are meteorites radioactive?

No. Meteorites do contain radioactive elements, however, not significantly more than any ordinary terrestrial rock.” (course: NHM)

Meteorite Radiation Scale

My pictures are obviously a bit rubbish, having the reflection of the glass in many of them. They certainly don’t allow you to see the shiny metallic crystalline surfaces of the meteorites, which is their most splendid facet. For a better view you can go to the online viewing tool that the NHM provides, which will give you a rotating view of the main meteor fragments in their collection. Just select the fragment from the list to load the viewer.

Here are the major meteorites in the NHM’s collection, and the strength of the radiation from them (measured afterwards by dowsing):-

  1. Krasnojarsk (iron) – 10/10
  2. Stannern (melted stony) – 5/10
  3. Plainview (stony, 20% iron) – 8/10
  4. Henbury (iron) – 10/10
  5. Nahkla (Martian stony) – 6/10
  6. Parnalee (stony) – 2/10
This dowsing seems to demonstrate a relationship between the amount of metal in the meteorite and the strength of the reaction to its field. So, this leads me to the question of exactly what the rods are reacting to. The NHM insists that there is only the ‘normal’ and usual amount of radioactivity emanating from these objects. My first test using the rods was to try to verify this statement…

The Radiation of Meteorites

  1. Is it true that the radioactivity of the meteors on display in the Natural History Museum is not greater than the earth’s own normal background radioactivity levels? NO. The radioactivity of meteorites is greater, but not by much.
  2. The radiation I was feeling from the meteorites – was that their radioactivity levels? NO.
  3. Was the energy radiating from the meteorites comparable to any energy that can be felt naturally on Earth? NO. This was some energy unique to these objects from space.
  4. Were the radiations of these meteorites constructive or destructive to the human? Some were constructive, others destructive.
  5. In what way were the meteorites constructive? To the physical aspects of the human. The iron type is most effective.
  6. In what respect are the meteorites destructive? To the spiritual – they drain the psychic energy of humans. The iron and iron-stony types do this.

The conclusions I draw from these experiments are that spiritually-developed and psychically-aware people should be very careful in the presence of meteorites, as they may find that even a short period of time in their proximity will cause them to be drained of the spiritual energies (the ‘magnetic fluid‘ of Allan Kardec‘s definition) that is so essential to our work. However, as we have culturally captured in the story of Superman there are certain meteorites whose radiation that can provide us with physical strength, and yet there are some that can drain us too. When asked the dowsing rods indicated that the iron type of meteorite was the one whose properties gave us strength, yet this type of also the one that drains us psychically. For every gift there is a price to pay, it would seem?
