Circling in El Romeral

Posted on December 16, 2012 By Gwas No Comments on Circling in El Romeral
Ancient Sites, Energy work

In the second part of the day spent visiting the megalithic sites of Antequera in Spain we travelled the mile or so down the main road out of town heading towards the dominant feature in the landscape – the mountain of La Pena. We drove into what can only be described as an industrial estate, down a road whose tarmac suddenly ran out, and then down a dirt track, all the while following vague brown signs pointing towards ‘El Romeral‘. As we turned yet again into an area that seemed all ‘wrong’ for an ancient site, we could begin to see some grass and trees at the end of the track. Was this it?

Spain - November 2012 (156)

As we pulled into the car park with its dedicated ticket booth (oops – should we have paid at the previous site?) El Romeral loomed with it circular crown of cypress trees. It looked like a crown jewel among the slovenly industrial units and their dumping grounds that surrounded the site. We noticed that yet again there was a bus full of school children visiting the place, so we sat and had lunch while we waited for them to finish their noisy procession in and out of the central chamber.

At the time of visiting I didn’t have my bearings of the place and its surroundings. Only later did I do some research and find that there is a cardinal alignment between El Romeral’s chamber and the El Torcal sleeping dragon that faces it due South of the site. It’s like the dragon is watching the chamber from far above. The only noticeable alignment on the ground is with the La Pena mountain – the lady in the landscape. A gap in the line of trees shows the mountain’s profile perfectly.

Iona 7 Knights Journey

Quests

What the? I had just been pulled across a mile or two of marsh and hills to the village-ette on Iona and had no clue as to why. Talk about following your intuition, this was more like running after it. Out of breath and heart a pumping (er…that’s not good) I turned a corner, Gwas one … Read More “Iona 7 Knights Journey” »

Iona 6 Call of the White Stone

Energy cleansing, Quests

Lunch time was ignored in the pursuit of quests on our second day at Iona. I was astonished from the findings of the previous hour i.e. the questions on the beach. As we discussed this and Gwas’s adventures we walked along to the south side of the Island to a megalith that Gwas wanted to visit. As … Read More “Iona 6 Call of the White Stone” »

Iona 5 Questions on the Beach

Crystals, Dowsing, Edge Wizardry, Experiment, Healing, How To, Theory

Come on, talk about adventure right? This is day two of our stay at Iona and I have already encountered a thought form, a dragon and something strange, as well as an awesome star filled night. And that doesn’t include the remarkable druidry of Gwas. Could it get more exciting? Of course! If you recall, all the way … Read More “Iona 5 Questions on the Beach” »

Fire Dragon of Antequera

Ancient Sites, Energy work, Hedge Druidry, Spirits

The Andalucian landscape does not have many sacred sites compared to an island like Britain, but the ones it does have are rather special. After having visited El Torcal and seen the sleeping dragon in the landscape I wanted my fix of megalithic sites. Can’t go a whole week without one! I had identified three in the area – two together and one a further mile away. Seemed like a plan to go visit them as the clouds started gathering. No sunbathing today!

Alongside the town of Antequera there are two dolmens – “Cuevas De Menga Y Viera” (Megalithic Portal link]. The Menga dolmen is reputed to be the largest in Europe. Luckily for us the site has now been fully restored and turned into a proper visitor attraction. Did I say lucky? I meant… lucky for the site. Because the restoration has been very well done. The site is clearly looked after, well visited, and protected from harm. The restoration work itself seems to have been both sympathetic and without any lavishness or unnecessary additions. I would go as far as to say it’s one of the most pleasant ancient sites to visit anywhere, and this one is on the outskirts of a busy large town – surrounded by homes, businesses and busy roads. Yet, it is given the proper space, the right restorative treatment (despite a crumbling economy), and the dolmens are free to go and see. What more could you ask? English Heritage take note!

Inside the chamber one begins to appreciate the size of the construction. Here is a plan showing the construction, and then a picture I took inside the dolmen.

Iona 4 Wild Nights

Celestial, Ghosts and shades, Other Entities, Spirits

What is the time for you? For me it is around 3:30am. Some call it God Time. When the world is silent and if you’re lucky you can hear the call of intuition and if you’re even luckier, you can be bothered to get out of your bed and heed the call. In Iona I … Read More “Iona 4 Wild Nights” »

Iona 3 Bargain with a Thought Form

Celestial, Healing, How To, Quests, Spirit rescue, Spirits

In the last two posts I told of how I had been guided around the Isle of Iona by an errant though form named Sarah. Gwas and I had climbed the hill known as Dun I (pronunciation pending) and as Gwas moved off to work on his quests I edged further and further west. The Atlantic ocean … Read More “Iona 3 Bargain with a Thought Form” »
