Often my wife has to work away from home. She gets to visit places the length and breadth of these islands, which has broadened her own horizons considerably. As a lone traveller, though, apart from the solitary travel there is also the feeling of being in a new place on your own – it’s not always a liberating experience. Of course we stay in touch as all modern couples do, but sometimes there’s an extra touch required.
Now, usually I keep my work separate from my ‘ordinary’ life. Occasionally the opportunity arises for the two worlds to cross over, and I am now happy for that to happen because it is sometimes less profitable to keep them apart. After all, this is the year that I am being more authentic, so I need to begin to practise the skills I have been taught.
Which brings me to this incident. If you stay in hotel rooms a lot you will have come across this phenomenon for sure. The feeling that there’s something in the room with you. That somebody perhaps left something of themselves in the room. In older hotels and boutique places that use old artefacts to create ambience, sometimes the items in the room carry the energetic attachments of previous owners.
M called me to have our usual evening chat from her hotel in Swansea, South Wales. Did she have a nice night’s stay in her posh room, I asked? No, terrible, she responded. I was surprised because I thought that the hotel was away from the usual city-centre hubbub and that there weren’t many guests at this time of year anyway. What had disturbed her – air conditioning, radiator pipes, televisions blaring, or the sirens of ambulances and police cars? None of the above. Instead she told me of crazy strong dreams, turbulent thoughts that she didn’t feel were her own, and a feeling of a presence in certain places around the room.
I offered to help her out. This was a good chance to get to know my new spirit guide better. I asked M to send me photos of the places that she felt were “wrong” and I would see what I could glean from the pictures, and then decide what to do remotely from then on. Minutes later three photos came though in separate e-mails. I examined each one in turn.
1. The fireplace
A modern mainly decorative fireplace with a white surround and black polished front was shown on the photograph. I asked for Ash to come and help me read what was happening here, and I felt the familiar shiver. He was here. Concentrating gently on the picture I began to feel what was wrong.

The fire was inhabited by a small fire spirit. Fire spirits are notoriously disruptive – they love chaotic energy, and will often ensure this situation remains in place so that they can feed from the resulting energetic passionate outbursts that result from this. In this case it was relatively small and puny, I felt. I decided that negotiation was in order.
I tuned in to the fire spirit and began the talks. Would it be prepared to leave my wife’s energy alone if I were to donate some fire elemental energy that I had access to from my elemental connection – he is a very strong fire spirit. The puny spirit agreed, so I called upon my fire elemental, asking him to help me generate some fire-spirit-compatible energy, which I then sent down to the tiny fire spirit via an arcing tunnel of connecting energy. Now, I said to it, keep your bargain or I’ll be back! It sounded like a threat, but I wasn’t altogether what I could do if it got feisty again. I was relying on it being satisfied with what I’d done already.
2. The dresser
The next photo showed a dressing table made of perhaps walnut wood, with decorative turned legs, and a slab of grey streaked granite across the top as the main feature of the piece. Instantly on seeing it I felt uneasy about this table. It was someone’s prize possession and they weren’t happy about it being used by the general public – not at all! Such resentment!

I tuned in to get a better picture of the thing holding this resentful feeling. A picture of a dark-haired lady in her fifties or sixties emerged. I saw her primarily in shadow, indicating that she was what Kal calls a “shade” – a remnant energy form that retains much of the emotional attachment and thought patterns that a person had in their physical life. The woman was clearly dead, but seemed not to realise this.
For some reason I didn’t want to offer a spirit rescue process in this instance. Ash was hinting that this would be difficult and unwanted. So, I asked the shade whether it would calm down if M removed the objects that she had put on the dressing table. Maybe, came the response. Not as much as I was hoping. I needed to do more.
I decided to cover the table in an energetic shield. The resentment energy couldn’t get out for a while. I felt like the objects on the dresser were in danger of absorbing the resentful energy over time, so I advised M to remove the objects as soon as she could. In the meantime I covered the whole table in an energetic coating that would reduce the ‘leakage’ of this negative energy.
3. The bed
The final photo showed the bed with its strange padded headboard. It was completely over the top in terms of style. Not to my taste at all! But what was it about that space that was causing the turbulent dreams? I de-focused my eyes and gazed at the picture as a whole, trying to see its energetic pattern.
What I saw was like a strong of pearls. There was a bubble beneath the bed, one over it, and one above it. Each ‘bead’ of this necklace of energy contained spinning vortices whose movement was very random. The source of the disturbance was both above and below, and both sources were pushing disturbed energy into M’s hotel room.

How to resolve this one? I envisioned the sphere of energy over the bed, and I cleared it out of turbulent currents, dissipating the spinning flows until the inside was calm. Then I sealed the sphere off from the flows above and below. The reduction in energy made the sphere begin to contract so I concentrated on expanding it until it covered the whole room. Then I sealed it completely for the time period that M would be in that room.
Effectively I had created a safe, peaceful space within which the flows of disturbed energy could not penetrate. I ‘stepped back’ to see what the impact was upon the two chaotic flows above and below. They seemed to feed each other still, but now they were flowing around the new larger central peaceful sphere. I was happy with that.
The Night After
M phoned the next day. She had immediately felt much better from the work I had done. She had moved the objects off the dresser and felt relieved about doing that. She had had a much more peaceful night’s sleep, but still with powerful (although not disturbing) dreams. Well, she was still in an energy flow, so that should be expected. The fireplace was now calm and welcoming, not scary.
I thanked my new spirit guide, Ash. It was amazing the kind of work we were able to do together. I was beginning to feel very confident about working with him. He was bringing me instant success, and really felt like a step upwards in terms of magickal processes. We also seemed to be able to help people out a lot more easily than I had when working with Theodora. All good all round!
Gwas.
