Problems for the Genius Loci – Egypt 10

Path of the Sphinx
Path of the Sphinx

It was my second day in Luxor and I was eager to go exploring. On this day I had Luxor Temple in mind. It is located in the center of Luxor and was just a 20 minute taxi ride from my hotel. The taxi driver said he would pick me up and asked me how long I would be. Learning from my lesson yesterday I left it open. Tourist time does not apply to me. It could be ten minutes or it could be three hours.

The ticket office is just by the square that sits before the temple gates. As you enter the temple is to your left, on the right there is a long path with sphinx statues on either side. The path is about a couple of hundred metres in length. I pulled out my dowsing rods and queried as to the place where I needed to be to prepare myself for entering the temple. The rods took me the full length of the path of the sphinx, in the mid-day sun.

I was taken to a smooth rock and told to place it at the starting point. The picture shows the rock and the distance from the temple, well sort of. This done, I was expecting to walk back to the temple, but the rods had other plans. The energy path that I had to take took me to each sphinx. One after the other. Left, right and left again. When you are following rods, you tend to walk slightly slower than normal and in that sun. It was hot and a long journey.

Also, actually, quite a lonely one, as no one else had even entered the path whilst I was working there. My left-right journey continued until I reached about half way. At this point another path from the right joins the main walk-way. Whether this path is ancient or modern I don’t know. But if I were to make an energetic guess, I would say modern. Because at that point, it is as if the energy (path) had been pushed to the left. Now before this point, I was walking from each sphinx to the other, across the central path you can see. Now, however, I had been pushed off the main central path and was walking between the sphinx on the left and the left edge of the path, in the sand.

Greeting the missing obelisik
Greeting the missing obelisk

This went on for about 10 sphinx statues until the energy righted itself and I was again on the central path, weaving left and right, as before. Finally, after I don’t know how long. I reached the end of the path of the sphinx and again was taken to two rocks this time. These were placed on the temple end of the path. To complete the entrance ceremony I think.

Phew! I had been taken to all the sphinx statues, one at a time and that seemed to meet the requirements for entering the temple. I was wrong. As I approached the temple the rods veered off to the right and the obelisk. Then to the one on the left or rather where it would have been.

After that, the temple let me in. I felt the need to connect with the Genius Loci of the temple and the rods led me through the temple walls and pillars. There was a point near the middle of the temple where the square in the picture shows that I thought was where it was located, but it was an aberration and I was led further and deeper into the interior.

Finally, at the back of the temple and off to the left, in a rather innocuous place the genius loci was found. I looked around with surprised. Why was the spirit of the place here? I know that they move around a place during the day and year. Maybe this was a part of its daily or annual journey? No, said the rods. On intuition, I asked whether the Genius Loci moved. No, was a surprising answer. I could not recall if I had ever encountered a stable Genius Loci. There must be a reason as to why.

I asked the rods whether there was a reason as to why the spirit was stuck in one place? There was, or rather the rods said Yes. What could it be? As you know, you cannot ask the rods questions that have a “why” in them. Yes/No is all you can get. I sat on a nearby broken column and pondered the Genius Loci. In the background time shifted into the early afternoon and the sounds came into focus. I found my attention caught by the Islamic call to prayer. I recalled the taxi driver telling me that a mosque had been built inside the temple. My intuition peaked! Was it because the ancient temple had been compromised by a recent (relatively speaking) religion? The dowsing rods sparked into action with a flick inwards. Yes.

Curious to learn more. I wondered where the Genius Loci would have been if the mosque hadn’t been in place. The rods led me to the plaza that had the afore mentioned aberration. Interesting. Also it would travel through the temple too, in a daily and annual path. Being a person to interfere often, I asked the rods if I could do anything for the genius loci, to return it to its original path. The answer was a Yes. Fortunately, I asked my holistic good question…would it be good for me to change the energies in the temple? The answer was No. Oh. Okay! No interference then.

The Starting Hole
The Starting Hole

I speculated for a while as to what would have been needed to shift the energies so that the Genius Loci could become free. There would have to be four things that I needed to do. I asked for the first one and was taken to this (see pic) hole in the wall which was just above head height. Here I would have to crawl into its depths and light an incense stick and create an energy signature which would then be pushed throughout the temple.

I felt a tinge of excitement…But I know myself enough to know that if I started to think about interfering I would interfere best to leave it alone. I suppose it is the nature of the things, the old gods pass away and are replaced by the new gods. I had had a similar experience at Delphi in Greece where I visited the Temple of the Goddess Athena. Then as now, I felt a sadness at the loss, but with a tinge of understanding of the greater (grandeur) picture of things.

I spent some time in the company of the ancient Genius Loci as we both listened to the prayer to the new god, Allah. It is an irony that even here the methodology of take over is the same. Find the place the ancients worshipped and build your prayer place atop it.

The Plce of Offerings
The Place of Offerings

Of course, an offering of some kind to the Ancient Gods had to be left behind. The place was just off to the left of the Genius Loci position and there someone else had left a crystal on the ground. I exchanged it for one of my own and was done.

Rather aimlessly I wandered around the temple some more. There are many hieroglyphs still remaining on the walls and if that’s your thing then it’s definitely worth checking those out. It’s not really my forte unless I am drawn to them for some energetic reason. In this instance I was.

On the right hand side of the far end of the temple are a series of rooms that are very well-preserved, in terms of wall carvings. At one point I found myself staring at the wall. The pic shows the carvings that I was looking at. It seemed to me that an offering of some kind was being made. Was this a message that was being directed at me? Surely I had just made an offering?

I got out my rods (which I had packed away) and asked whether this was of any significance to me? The answer was a Yes. I asked whether it was about an Offering, and again it was Yes. Did I need to make another offering here? No. An offering in the Future then? Yes.

I could not figure out any more at that time so I left it and the room. As I walked away from that part of the temple I noticed a sign for tourists…The place of Offerings.
