And, as I said, as they pushed the tube through my vein, Cailleach made an appearance…
There I am, lying on a table/bed with my right arm pinned to the table and a whole array of instruments sliding around above me. Yes that is the picture of someone going through an Angiogram. My wrist was supposed to be numb to pain but I could feel some discomfort so I mentioned it to the Consultant.
Note: Do you find this? You’re at the hospital or more often the dentist and they have given you some numbing medication and yet you can still feel some of the pain? Do you speak out or silently suffer through it? When they say you wont feel anything do they really mean anything or is that little remaining pain a residual we can’t get rid of it effect?
For me when they say no pain, that is what I want, no pain. So I had the Consultant give me another shot before I was satisfied about the “no pain” effect. Having a long tube shoved up your vein isn’t a comforting thought, however it’s just the thought of it that’s the problem. You don’t actually feel it being shoved. Though you do hear it, from an external reference. All I can say is eugh!. Your senses know when something unnatural is occurring.
Whilst the quacks (quacked?) explored my inner regions with various bits of technology I was trying to keep focused on nothing in particular, although a chant from a Tony Robbins (Unleash the Power Within) event was playing in my mind…Cool Moss, Cool Moss…and that’s when she appeared.
I guess I was worried about what the results would show. Would I need a stent putting in? Would I need a bypass? Yes, I was indeed worried and perhaps that’s what summoned my vision. Again, who knows? However, in the midst of all this technical wonder an ancient being appeared by my side and constantly whispered in my ear…
“Your heart is good, your heart is good…”
Cailleach!
I was indeed comforted by these words even though I still get the occasional rational urge to put her down as a flight of magical fancy. Nevertheless to say that I was grateful for this interruption was an understatement. And believe it or not a little incy wincy bit of me was saying…this will be an interesting test…I am a die hard science geek still!
Twenty minutes that felt like two hours later the senior quack (I really should have more respect) came around to me and smiled encouragingly. “You are a lucky fella” he intoned. “We’ve had a good look around your heart and it is good. Wow! I was relieved and delighted (with the confirmation of my companion goddess..ye of dwindling faith!) However there was some arterial furring which he’d talk to me about later.
Phew! Well, there isn’t much more esoterically speaking to tell other than, I remain to continue to navigate into the mysterious out there worlds.
Kal Malik, feeling blessed.

I’m glad to hear your big heart is still beating strongly, Kal! xxx
Yeah, he’s still going. Despite all my best efforts to see him off by making him climb huge mountains in bad shoes. 😉
Gwas.
Always a pleasure, never a chore friend…How about I drag you to Delphi in Feb?
Thanks Bronzewing, I truly believe that all your thoughts and kind words have influenced my recovery. Thank you 🙂
Welcome to your life Kal, not that you ever left, just a little side step on the journey perhaps. Loved reading about your experience. I, like you say “Quacks,” so can easily relate to that. Your heart is good, of course your heart is good, it just needed some noticeable attention which it got. Wishing you love, success, abundance, health and happiness always!
Georgie 🙂
Thanks Georgie, Your friendship is a blessing. Looking forward to chatting with you soon fab Georgie 🙂
Hi Magi-Kal, I’m so glad you made it through. I’m seeing you healthy, whole and complete. Just BTW, I was a Special Procedures Radiologic Technologist .. one of those quacks, LOL. But I always made my patients feel safe and comfortable. Sorry your team was not so considerate. And now it’s in the past! Here’s to your health!!
Hugs, Val
Val, It wasn’t my team that was at fault at all. I am just averse to people telling me what to do. They did make me feel safe and comfortable. Let me rephrase if I may, It isn’t the people it’s the processes that are enforced on them. Nurses have hearts of rainbows and beuracracy ties lead balloons to them. Love. Kal
So glad to hear you were given the all-clear Kal, I’m really relieved to hear that as I’m sure all your friends on Hedge Druid are! 😉 I can imagine how relieved YOU must feel! My daughter had to have a 24 hour eletro-cardiogram thingy (I have no idea what its called) on her heart about a year ago. I was so worried as you can imagine, she’s only 23, but has had fainting fits on and off, which could be linked to an erratic heart rate. Anything like this sends one spinning off in panic I know. Fortunately her test came back fine as well, but we still don’t know what’s causing these seizures as it isn’t connected to epilepsy, but at least her heart too, is ‘good’! 😉
Happy to have you back safe and sound Kal!
*Hugs* xx
Dear dear Liz,
You are an amazing companion on our journey truly you are. I look forward to a time when we can chat about this fabulous life that we have been given. Bless and thanks for your care and kind words, they are truly appreciated. Love Kal
Aww Kal, thank you so much hon, you bring a tear to my eye – what a fabulous day of affirmations I’ve had today, how grateful I am to all my wonderful friends, words like these are gold dust for the soul, they mean the world 🙂 Yes, I can’t wait to meet you both, you only need say the word and I’ll be there! BTW – found you on Facebook but had to ‘subscribe’ as there wasn’t a ‘friend-ing’ option on your page. I’m on there more than I used to be, so pop by and say ‘hi’ same goes for you Gwas! xx
Facebook? Pah! I was conned into creating an account, but I never use it. It would eat my soul if I let it. I only use it as a convenient sign-in for other things now. You won’t find me accepting any friend requests or changing any statuses.
G.
It’s not THAT bad Gwas! Mind you I do know a LOT of people who feel the same. Well, you accepted my friend invite, so I must be one of the honoured few! 😉
One of the very few. And that’s the way I intend to keep it.
Hi Kal, well done and yes you should have more respect, if only for the machine that determined your current state:))
Love hearing about the thought processes though, so glad you are well.
Have they offered any life changes as a result?
with affection
Alison Bailey
Ha ha Alison, my gorgeous friend. My life changes on a month by month basis. I suspect that life is telling me to slow down a notch. I have done so…well for a few months 🙂
Blessing Alison, Will pop in to say hello to you soon.
