The Hawk Vision
Standing in the amphitheatre half way up the Delphi temple complex I had beautiful scenes in either direction down the valley. Yet, it was not the scenery that captured the imagination, but the sonics of that space. I still find it incredible how perfectly mathematical the calculations were for such structures. Standing in the “play space” – a crescent of smooth stone at the base of the structure – I could project the smallest whisper upwards with no effort until it was amplified around the seats above. Incredible. Every time I visit an amphitheatre it amazes me. I imagined how it could enhance a sound vibration in a meditation – imagine a didgeridoo here!

The dowsing rods then lead me upwards on a small path that seems to lean nowhere. That ‘nowhere’ turns out to be a vantage point above the amphitheatre affording a holistic view over the feature. I begin to get a ‘feeling’, and so I pay attention to it. The feeling exerts itself as an impulse, then emerges into a voice. “Sit back and relax!” it says to me. I look behind me and see a rock large enough to lounge against, and with a convenient ‘seat’. So, I sit down. “Lean back and relax!” I am instructed. OK, no harm in having a moment’s rest in the sun – I am on holiday, after all.
I am now practically lying back on the rock. My gaze goes skyward, and at that exact moment I hear the cries of a bird of prey slightly behind me. I look right up into the sky and see two hawks come out from the top of the cliffs behind me, performs a few circles, and then move back out of sight again. Wow! I wait to see if they re-appear, but they don’t. That moment was just for me to see.
The “inkling” leaves and I return to the dowsing rods to lead me onwards. They now stop me at a point in the path where the main path carries on upwards with its modern stone tessellation, but there is an alternate path – one which is overgrown but somehow ‘older’. The rods point over the restraining rope towards the old path, the lush green path, the path that leads into the woods. Time to make a decision.
The Vaporous Cave
I cross the rope. I don’t even look to see if anyone’s watching – it simply must be done. I begin the climb up the wooded slope, the rods taking me in a gentle zig-zag pattern up the best path, avoiding all obstacles. I feel ‘liberated’ from the constraints of the regulated path. I know it’s there for a reason, but I am still following a path – just one that was created a long time ago, and which is now hidden to most. The dowsing rods found it, though, and identified it as the energetic and enlightening path.
The path straightens, climbing steeply out of the shade of the trees to point me directly at a gap in the hillside. A cave, a cave that I must enter. It’s close to where the path swings round on one of its meanders, but far enough away that I would be hidden inside the gap. I put my coat down and sit on it. Time to relax again, and wonder where Kal is up to with his journey. My thoughts begin to roam….but I pull them back. Let’s see if I can use this space to meditate, perhaps get some visions?

I saw myself holding my hand over the top of an exhibit case. The energy from the ancient golden twisted torc was drawn out of the metal and into my body. I shivered.
Then the scene shifted to a place I recognised.. It was Knowth, a complex of ancient buildings in the Boyne Valley. Here I saw myself enter one of the large domed buildings which was used for seership, communion with the ancestors, and for initiation. When I emerged again I went straight into one of the low-lying fogous that were all around the outskirts of the larger dome.
I was then told that this was the process needed to utilise the energy from the torc to unlock my ancestral memories.
The vision fades as my “Keeper” rings the alarm bell in the back of my mind. You know that part of your brain that warns you about impending danger, or wakes you up when you’re late for something important? I call it The Keeper because it keeps me safe, brings me back when my mind or life is threatened. Well, it came to the fore and brought me back to consciousness at this moment. Of course I was intrigued. Why had I been roused, I wondered? Then the headache hit and I realised my brain wasn’t functioning properly. All my “normal” thoughts were fuzzy, clouded and slow. My body wasn’t moving to the usual everyday brain commands. It was The Keeper that was directing the activity now. I struggled to rouse myself and after a few laborious minutes involving adrenalin I managed to “wake up” my everyday brain.
Wow! What was going on? Why was I so groggy? I gathered me things and moved away from the cave opening. In the afternoon sunlight and fresh breeze everything returned to normal. Had I been ‘drugged’ by the vapours from the geology of the area that were famous for making the Oracles have their prophetic visions? I had to wonder! My head throbbed as though I had a hangover, but after a few minutes and some deep breathing it calmed down. The symptoms certainly matched.
I was fascinated. Could this place possibly get any more interesting? Well, as it happens, there was one final nice touch.
In the Shade of the Stadium
I walked father up the slope, along a clearly-defined path of lush new grass beneath an avenue of gentle fir trees whispering in the light breeze. Idyllic – that’s a Greek word, right? That’s what it was. I needed to clear my head, and the cool mountain air did that quickly. Soon I was back on the main path and walking alongside the final spectacle of this impressive complex of sites – The Stadium. The stadium was once host to The Pythian Games – an event as big as the Olympic Games. How times change!

I was alone up there apart from an American man with his young boy. They soon departed, being disappointed at not being able to run along the track itself. Now I was alone, or so I thought., but something was tugging at me. I went back to a spot close to an entrance up into the stadium (cordoned off, of course). I got out my dowsing rods and asked them to lead me to the most energetically active location nearby. As I walked away they looped back around to return me close to the spot where I had been standing. Aha – I was clearly on to something then. But what?
Knowing that dowsing rods are very inefficient at “what” types of questions I decided to turn to my spirit guide to assist with the psychic aspects of this investigation. I tuned in and called him to the party, and then stood on the spot indicated by the rods and waited to see if anything would present itself to me. I didn’t have to wait long. This new guy was fast! A series of images combined with emotions began to emerge….
…it was the wife of an athlete, or was it the athlete himself – the two people were incredibly close, overlapping, indistinguishable. The energy was pinned to this spot by fear, the shade of someone reliving the event, fearing to enter the stadium, or perhaps fearing someone entering….
It was too confused to be able to differentiate the exact source of that series of thoughts, sights and feelings, yet the overriding sense had been one of fear, trepidation, and a loss of physical life soon after. The shade was replaying the events whenever any new energy was given to that spot.

I returned to the communing frame of mind in order to ask some questions. I sent images to the shade indicating that time had moved on, and showed this shade how the site looked now, outside of its cycle of trapped imagery. There was a crest-fallen feel, a rapid realisation, and I gave the shade some time to assimilate this completely. Then, instead of using words, I projected a feeling of release…an offering. The response was positive, and so I called upon those guides who were available, and who could help, to ask them to come and involve themselves in the release of this energy. I too put some energy into the process, and even as I began to imagine the energy being lifted and released from the spot it was already happening, and a light glow was in the periphery of my psychic sight (the overlay on reality).
Moments later I was back in the ‘ordinary’ world, the five-sense reality. The birds cheeped and the wind lightly ruffled the branches, and all was clear and well. I breathed deeply, inhaling the pine aroma and feeling cleansed myself. What a beautiful end to my temple complex visit and now I had to find Kal somewhere in this maze of places. As I walked down the slope he appeared walking up – we had decided to find each other at the same time. Synchronous as usual.
