I really enjoy being surprised, in a delightful way. When Kal suggested a trip to Nine Stones Close circle just the far side of Bakewell in Derbyshire I was delightfully surprised. It felt like ages since we had been there, so I jumped at the chance given that it was probably going to be a sunny warm day. What a glorious summer we’re having here in Britain this year! I certainly couldn’t remember when I last saw this circle in sunshine!

We arrived and I prepared myself for rain. Derbyshire has something of a reputation akin to Cumbria when it comes to sudden and dramatic downpours of water, and there were certainly clouds looming. However, as soon as Kal got to work on changing the weather the sky began to clear. By the time we had walked up to the memorial bench just below Robin Hood’s Stride – a mound of sculpted red sandstone – then the sky was gleaming blue with occasional white patches of fluffy cloud. All weather-proof gear was stowed, and we began to follow our instincts without the threat of getting rained off.

The Concave Cave

Kal was dowsing a waving line up the hill, stopping occasionally at spirals on the way up. I was walking the same path but higher up, and I looked back to notice we were making the same path over the dry slope. For some reason I didn’t head through the normal gate up past Robin Hood’s Stride but instead went off to the darker fir-fringed ridge path. Kal followed and confirmed that this was the way he wanted to go too. We didn’t know why. I followed the energy force that was pulling me. It’s a real treat to do this – the energies were strong enough to actually follow without dowsing rods this evening.

On top of the steep ridge I found a concave depression in the sandstone – almost a cave but too shallow. More like a shelter. Inside I dowsed for the place to sit but I already knew where it was – it was the focal point for the parabolic shape – a spot near to the mouth of the cave.

The Tuning of the Chakras 

At the focal point of the cave I sat and did some vocal chakra tuning – a technique I had learned a while back and which made full use of the resonance afforded by the concave shield of rock behind me. I felt myself shift into a new phase and back out with each humming sound.

As we began to leave Kal pointed out a face in the rocks around us. Once you see one you begin to see more. Suddenly we were surrounded by an army of rock warriors! Luckily, they weren’t very fast-moving. We legged it to head off to Nine Stones Close!
