I have been away from this blog for many years now. There are several reasons for this, which I will explain in this post.
The first reason is that I lost control of the blog in 2018. Some WordPress plug-in that I then used didn’t keep pace with the rate of change which WordPress was going through. As a result, they broke, and effectively took the site down, or at least made it inaccessible.
Ordinarily I would have fixed that, but I forgot my administrator password and so got locked out! As I had other things going on at the time, and I wasn’t really posting a lot anyway, I let it slide. For 10 years!!
The major reason why I didnt get back to blogging and recover the site was that in 2019 and into 2020, just as Covid was ravaging our society my wife and I were undergoing a major life change.
We both gave up our jobs, bought a narrowboat, and moved onto it fully in May 2020. We set sail for a new life afloat touring the canals and waterways of the United Kingdom and we never looked back.
We still live on it now.
The thing about the waterways is – they have industrial heritage, but rarely do they go anywhere close to an ancient megalithic site. As a consequence I put my druidic life on the back burner as I got to grips with a new, slower, way of life.
Over time we acquired a permanent mooring. Initially it was simply a base to return to for the winters. Recently, with the low water levels restricting boat movements, it has become a true home for us.
That meant I could begin to re-engage with my druid practises more earnestly. I joined a local druid group called Cherwell Druids when it started in 2026. This was a major boost to my reconnection.
Then, one day recently, I got an urge to restart the blog. I wanted to do site visits again, to seek new quests, and to record this I made a huge effort to regain control of the blog and to my surprise I managed to do it!
I have now updated it and fixed a lot of things. So, in a sense I’m back!
I hope you enjoy the fruits of these efforts as you follow my continuing spiritual journey in my later years.
