Autumn Equinox 2015 P2 – Moving onwards and upwards

In the second and final part of my Autumn Equinox outing I was still at Pistyll Rhaeadr. I had been told that I could do everything in one place. Now that I had learned The Song of the Waters at the base of the waterfall, it was time to move onwards and upwards.

Taking into account what happened at Dinas Bran I climbed the steep slope very slowly. This was now a deliberate change of pace now that Kal has gone. Everything will be slower and more spanned out now. It’s about quality, not quantity now. One site is enough, done slowly and mindfully.

Beginning the slow climb up Pistyll Rhaeadr

At the top I went to stand on the edge. Kal was an Edge Wizard, and as I faced that inherent fear we have which prevents us from falling from great heights I felt the thrill of being alive. I wished he was here too. I lit three incense sticks in memory of Kal, and lay the Irish green wand alongside them. The green wand’s power was growing, I could sense it. Or was I fooling myself? The Fool was one of Kal’s alter egos – a role he played with gusto. He enjoyed people’s reactions, and only those who could see beyond that began to understand that his wisdom was draped in a motley garb. The water jumped off the edge with an enthusiastic inevitability, pulling, drawing….I gathered the wand and stepped back.

I went to sit under the canopied rock a safe distance back from the edge. Sheltered from the wind and occasional rain I was able to quickly get into a meditative state of mind and call upon my spirit guide to help my work. I looked out down the valley, and as my gaze became fixed and my mind became free I began to see the ages pass. Huts of people came and went; armies marches, fought and dispersed; travellers arrived and left; and the landscape whirled through the seasons and ages in such a rapid succession that I stopped trying to recognise the changes. It was an amazing vision.

There was more to come.

Moon kissed Earth – Lammas 6

We were early, by a long chalk. Having rested and supped for the evening we had set out to continue our pilgrimage within the Vale of Kilmartin. Our goal was the sacred site known as the Moon Temple. We were also lucky in that the Moon had been full only the day before and thus … Read More “Moon kissed Earth – Lammas 6” »

Stolen Artifact and the Faery Taint – Lammas 5

As we walked towards the main four spires of this site, I got a familiar tingle. It was Fay! I’ve been around them enough to know when they are about. Particularly when they are this side of a portal. It seems that my sacred journey is intertwined with these beings, for the moment at least. If you … Read More “Stolen Artifact and the Faery Taint – Lammas 5” »

Lammas 2015 P2 Nether Largie by day

Geographically we had only travelled about a quarter of a mile through Kilmartin Glen, yet we had seen many fascinating and energetic megaliths. Now back together, Kal and I approached the Nether Largie South Cairn together. The sun was out as we approached, and all the dire predictions of doom-laden skies were dispersing as quickly as the dark clouds around us. Summer was making itself felt on this early August day.

Another “dispersal” of rock debris around the base, as though this preserved the interior better. I dowsed an entrance barrier that was a full 4ft deep. Further dowsing telemetry revealed that the structure was created 5,635 years ago. This would make the construction date 3620 BCE. Undiscovered Scotland put the date between 5,500-5,600 years ago. Good old dowsing! Right again. And more accurate.

Kal clambered inside after a quick dowse, and I was taken to sit on top, directly above where he was sitting inside. Seemed like we were working apart, but together on this one. I was acting as a kind of sentry for Kal, protecting the space. Now the work could begin…

A very unusual quest – Lammas 1

Timing is everything Phew! It was going to be a long drive to Kilmartin, which was our destination for the Lammas Festival. In fact, it was a six-hour drive as the car-drives. All kudos to Chris for that I have to say (many times).  The day began brightly but as we got closer to Scotland … Read More “A very unusual quest – Lammas 1” »

Song of the Sea Breeze

Posted on September 19, 2015September 4, 2015 By Chris No Comments on Song of the Sea Breeze
Song of the Sea Breeze

So it came to the third and final part of my quest related to learning the ‘song’ of the various types of wind. This time I was prepared to go wherever the dowsing rods took me. I had a free evening and the weather was fine, so… off I go to find the Song of the Sea Breeze!

I literally let the dowsing rods guide me. As I came to each junction I asked one dowsing rod to point in the direction I was to take. Luckily I have a car with an automatic gear box and so that was relatively easy and safe to do. Turn by turn I was being led into North Wales. Each time when I thought I knew where I was being taken the dowsing rod would foil me and point somewhere else. Even so, I ended up on the A55 heading along the welsh coastline, and sure that I was intended for Anglesey. Instead, some 20 miles outside of Chester, the rod indicated that I should leave at the Prestatyn junction.

From this point I knew the roads to the left (Gop Hill and Dyserth) and had once taken the road to the right (Holywell) but the dowsing rod pointed straight on. Now I was in unknown territory. Next I was being taken down a narrow country lane with no idea where I was. Some several puzzling and worrying minutes later I emerged at the bottom of a hill and recognised the road. It was the A548 coast road! Turning left, as indicated, I found the next sign was my destination – Talacre Bay. There are definitely worse places to be on a summer’s evening!

Dreaming of the past

Posted on September 13, 2015September 4, 2015 By kal No Comments on Dreaming of the past
Dreams, Visions

For someone who doesn’t believe in spirits or at least has a “not sure” attitude to them, I seem to be communing with those that have departed quite frequently. I know, it’s a bit oxymoron(ic) but there you have it. The erstwhile spirit I refer to is my mum, who passed away some 6 years … Read More “Dreaming of the past” »
