The Axis of Time

This is a post related to the quest “Become The Giant” that I was given at Spring Equinox.

As the weather was fantastic for April, and Kal was eager to go out, I was easily persuaded to venture forth into Wales. Having no destination I suggested Gop Hill. Within half an hour (through heavy commuter traffic) we were zooming down the A55 towards the special hill.

Then, out of the blue, I thought we’d gone past the junction. We’d been chatting and it suddenly occurred to me that I had already gone wrong. Kal suggested a new destination: what about Bryn Celli Ddu on Anglesey? We had time, petrol and inclination. Let’s go!

As we approached the Jubilee Bridge over the Menai Straits I got a different feeling – I should visit Lligwy Chamber – the one part of the “Follow The Bear” (a Great Bear Landscape Zodiac quest) that I hadn’t managed to visit this year. Now was the time, I felt. And for some reason, I knew that the two quests would come together in that location – one to be fulfilled, the other to be expanded.

Feeling The Movement of the Universe

I was shown a cleansing place – one of the lumps of stone outside of the iron-clad fencing around the huge cap-stoned chamber itself. I used the dowsing rods to find the correct alignment for myself – which direction to face whilst cleansing. The detritus of the modern world sloughed off me like a snake’s skin shedding.

Next I was shown to stand on another of the lumpy stones. This time I felt inclined to discover the whereabouts of the Great Bear constellation (Ursa Major). It was directly above me! Perfect, I felt. I closed my eyes and felt something that I have never felt before. I felt that inside my head was a three-dimensional representation of the panorama of stars and galaxies. I could see and feel the gently rotation of the Earth in relation to the backdrop of other energy sources – the stars, moons, planets, asteroids – the whole constellational tapestry, sliding… shifting… swirling.

I nearly fell off the stone several times! With my eyes open the movement became the usual imperceptible shift, but once my eyes closed while standing on this stone then I felt the Universe’s subtle movement in three glorious dimensions.

In post one and two I talked about a house dowse that I did recently and the discovery of prayer energy or as I am going to term it, Devotional Energy. In this post I am going to round up some of my findings and perhaps note some areas of further investigation. If you checkout … Read More “The Energy of Prayer 3 of 3” »

New Moon, Wizards and Goddesses

Lunacy is a word that I agree with in that a full moon drives it crazy. So a new moon has quite the opposite effect on me. Yesterday was one such evening and I was in a mind to travel to the Wizards wood, namely Alderley Edge. I arrived whilst it was still light and … Read More “New Moon, Wizards and Goddesses” »

The Resonance of Caileach

Honestly, our adventures surprise us on a daily basis. From one synchronicity and strange occurrence do we wander. Seemingly aimless and yet specifically guided. We had spent considerable time looking for the Church of St Michael prior to our time at Arthur’s Well without success and then literally a few minutes after leaving that place … Read More “The Resonance of Caileach” »

Bride and Crone at Imbolc

Only the fool-hardy and those friends with frost would venture forth into the darkness of Delamere Forest at midnight. Illuminated only by a filling Milk Moon and a fogging headlamp I met with John Kirby – experienced meditator and esoteric inspiration. This was his idea, and I had seen no reason not to accompany him on his wild adventure into the blackness. I was nearly put off by other people’s reservations: it would be cold, I didn’t know where I was going exactly, it was very windy, the world might end any moment. None of this seemed to matter. Curiosity and the opportunity to meditate outdoors this close to Imbolc was sufficient motivation to drive me onwards.

It was almost a full moon and there was sufficient light to make our way from the station car park, past the visitor centre, and out into the forest proper. John had identified a place where there were some specific trees that he wanted to encounter again. Luckily, he knew how to get there even in the dark, and within ten minutes we had found the place.

There was one clearly visible and identifiable “male” tree. it stood along, a ‘lonesome pine’, immensely proud and conical. It looked like the kind of Christmas Tree that ought to adorn a special square in London. I chatted with John about the concept of the “King Stone” at a stone circle, and how the outlier would often be the male standing stone whose energy would be fed into the female stone circle. I likened the imagery to the sperm and ovum concept.

For me, Imbolc sees the return of the male earth energy so tonight it seemed appropriate to attempt to “fertilise” the female ring of trees nearby with the male energy of this lone tree. We set up camp in a clutch of fir trees whose central space was both soft and welcoming, sheltered yet not smothering. A fire pit was dug by hand, wet logs used as a container, and then a small immediate flame established to ward off the worst of the Winter’s warmth-sapping strength.

Queen rises at Hatshepsut – Egypt 13

Hatshepsut, try saying that without spitting? It was my 3rd day in Luxor and I had just left (or been kicked out of) the Valley of the Kings. My next stop was the amazing temple of Hatshepsut. Now one thing that you have to remember and use to judge my Egyptian adventures is that beyond … Read More “Queen rises at Hatshepsut – Egypt 13” »

Problems for the Genius Loci – Egypt 10

Path of the Sphinx
Path of the Sphinx

It was my second day in Luxor and I was eager to go exploring. On this day I had Luxor Temple in mind. It is located in the center of Luxor and was just a 20 minute taxi ride from my hotel. The taxi driver said he would pick me up and asked me how long I would be. Learning from my lesson yesterday I left it open. Tourist time does not apply to me. It could be ten minutes or it could be three hours.

The ticket office is just by the square that sits before the temple gates. As you enter the temple is to your left, on the right there is a long path with sphinx statues on either side. The path is about a couple of hundred metres in length. I pulled out my dowsing rods and queried as to the place where I needed to be to prepare myself for entering the temple. The rods took me the full length of the path of the sphinx, in the mid-day sun.

I was taken to a smooth rock and told to place it at the starting point. The picture shows the rock and the distance from the temple, well sort of. This done, I was expecting to walk back to the temple, but the rods had other plans. The energy path that I had to take took me to each sphinx. One after the other. Left, right and left again. When you are following rods, you tend to walk slightly slower than normal and in that sun. It was hot and a long journey.

Also, actually, quite a lonely one, as no one else had even entered the path whilst I was working there. My left-right journey continued until I reached about half way. At this point another path from the right joins the main walk-way. Whether this path is ancient or modern I don’t know. But if I were to make an energetic guess, I would say modern. Because at that point, it is as if the energy (path) had been pushed to the left. Now before this point, I was walking from each sphinx to the other, across the central path you can see. Now, however, I had been pushed off the main central path and was walking between the sphinx on the left and the left edge of the path, in the sand.
