In part 5 I left you at the edge of a cliff wondering what had really gone on, behind the innocent scenes so to speak. Well, here is the latter part of the revelation (dream) and the confirmations that were received at the wizards wood.

In a previous post I already learned that the Goddess Caileach had blocked me from connecting with my Energy Self. I had also learned that she had blocked my Double from getting to me too. That, frankly was (and is) a disturbing feat. My loyalty, or perhaps it’s more accurate to say my trust in her had waned instantly. One word had rang clearly in my mind, betrayal.

Note: I am aware that the Tarot card reading might be pushing me towards the word betrayal.

As I said, learning of Caileach’s actions was disconcerting. So my questioning continued…

Was there anything else of energetic significance happening yesterday? Yes
Did it have anything to do with Caileach? Yes
Did it have anything to do with me as well? No
Did it have anything to do with the Gathering? Yes

Ah…more culprits? I couldn’t believe that Ancient Yew or Oak had any malicious intent. Dinas Bran? I enquired about all three and found that all three where exerting some energetic influence on the proceedings. I was disappointed in them. Had Caileach been able to coerce these beings too? No. Was she able to? No. At least she had some equals or superiors, I thought.

I was missing something I could feel it, as I pondered it, my dream image came to the fore. I had seen a chained dragon. During my drive to the Wizards Wood, I had thought it was something to do with the Dragon that I had released in Ireland but couldn’t relate that to this situation and so had put it aside (it was a dream after all).

Prelude

In my previous Imbolc 2014 posts, I told how Gwas and I had changed plans mid-stream and ended up at Dinas Emrys. A fabulous place of power where I had collected a (quite literally) pocket full of quartz crystals. About an hour after that climb we were parked at the foot of Penmaenmar looking out of the window at the rain, lashing down.

I tried to delve into the pot of summer solstice energy, but it was totally cleaned out and a silent request to Caileach went unanswered. Betrayal? Unlikely, I thought. Caileach has never been a one for on requests requests. Although I felt her presence hovering around, that certainly did not indicate favour and certainly not compliance, oh no not her. She redefines the word Goddess, trust me.

We finished a meagre lunch in the car and saw a brief respite in the rain. We took the chance. Gwas took out his exceptional amount of all-weather gear and asked whether I had changed my mind as to adding to my normal street gear. I considered the option for some moments and felt that the answer should be no. It was an insane decision!

Cornwall Winter 10 – Re-laying Lines at Helman Tor

In the final part of my winter visit to Cornwall I take a long walk to a remote hilltop to re-engage with Nature, and to learn a little more about ley lines.

It’s a short drive from Lesquite Quoit to the village of Lanlivery, where I parked at the local pub – The Crown Inn. Time for a spot of traditional lunch fayre (pie and mash) before heading out along The Saint’s Way towards my destination – Helman Tor.

I was lucky. The rain was holding off, and the walk along the Saint’s Way promised some spectacular views. The trail is well-marked and mostly well-surfaced. Then I got over the first hill out of Lanlivery and all that turned on its head! The wind picked up and I was grateful for the protective hedgerows on each side of the path. Then came the mud. The path had flooded for long sections and I had to pick my way around the worst depths, even with good footwear on. Nevertheless, I’d love to come back and do the full trail in summer. I bet it’s incredibly beautiful. It was nice even in its winter setting.

Helman Tor was approaching. I had in mind that I might find another clue to finding The Blood Ring – my third ancestral artefact. I wrapped up and ploughed on with renewed vigour.

After visiting Perran Round near Newquay I made my way further along the northern coast of Cornwall. I was running from the rain clouds which were closing in behind me. However, I was beaten, and when I arrived at Tintagel the rain had set in for the day. One of the reasons I had chosen Tintagel – apart from its stunning views – was that I knew I could shelter in the caves below the castle, providing that the sea would let me. I togged up and traipsed down the hill – not another visitor in view.

The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Druid

Tintagel is a lonely place to visit on a cold winter’s afternoon in the rain. As a Hedge Druid working alone is a frequent occurrence, and sometimes I am asked whether I really like it like that. Honestly? Well, yes actually. I am truly free in such situations, and work to my own timescales. Very rarely do I feel atone with all those elements and spirits swirling around me all the time and in every place I visit. I do appreciate being out with Kal or occasionally Psychic Mike, but really my heart is in league with land, sea and sky – these are the three faces of my mistress.

It’s in such circumstances, when the weather begins to impose itself, tugging at your clothing and ruffling your hair that one appreciates the impressive isolation that the cut-off headland exudes. How impassable and impregnable it seems when the sea is crashing around its base, spraying it in spume!

I made my way down to the shoreline. The sea was only just beyond the line of the caves, and so I knew that I had limited time before the caves would become cut off by the tide. I spent a good fifteen minutes, however, savouring the atmosphere of the wind, the waves and the light drizzle on my face. It felt quite dangerous to wait this long, as though I was dicing with Nature. Not exactly taunting Her, but allowing ourselves to come into a dangerous liaison. As the waves swelled and unfurled just out of reach of the cave mouth I turned my attention to making a meaningful contact.
